Hi Deborah Thank you for your review, however, I am sorry to say that I don’t feel it was a very fair or realistic portrayal of our company under the circumstances. As you needed an urgent ball park figure for your works we did not have time to conduct our normal site visit prior to quoting. Our estimator (who we paid extra for the urgent request) had to price for all unforeseen issues that could occur on site, to this end, not knowing your soil type he priced for double depth foundations, which is were all the extra cost lay in comparison to your other quotes. This was explained to your partner on the phone. I accept we were a little higher priced than your other quotes (by approx £10-£15k on a £100k - £120k project) but we have never before been accused of quoting double the price of another building company.If so we would never be working! We are not sole traders/one man bands, our prices reflect our company’s experience and the excellent service we provide to all our clients. All our work is guaranteed and to a very high standard, once we start a project we are in a contract with the client until it is completed, and they are happy with the results before making their final payment. All this is to ensuring peace of mind for our clients, that they are getting exactly what they want without issues. We had a great experience with these guys.
We came up against a few problems during the refurbishment of our home,one being the mega - flow system in our house - the one we ordered was not strong enough to supply all the bathrooms.
Joe sorted this out immediately by ordering the correct size and having it refitted.
Also it was good to find a builder who was more concerned about finishing on time than their tea breaks.

How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Before any building work is undertaken you must first look at the existing building and consider how you would like it to fit with the main house.
Things to consider in terms of an existing garage:
How far is the garage from the main house (if the garage is integral/joined to the house it would be easier to covert but you could also build it up to the side of the house if there is a space)
What is the roof made of (asbestos can be a serious problem),
What are the walls made of (steel garages can be converted but not as well and will not be water tight like a brick building)
What will the conversion be used for (a room will require insulation and need to be water tight)
Would you like to convert the garage to a 2 storey extension (the foundation would need to be deep enough to allow for this)
Ventilation and windows
How will you get the services to the extension - Electrics / Plumbing (depending on the end use)
Materials and style used on the external side of the conversation must be as close as possible to the main house or it will look like an oddity
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
The first thing to consider with any building works is to establish two main points:
1. Do you need planning permission
2. Are such building works allowed in your area.
Below is a simple listed order of how an average garage conversion would be progressed, although not all points may be applicable:

Roof - consider if you would like to use the space in the roof as an addition office etc..

How long have you been in business?
Although Bishop Ltd was established in 2017, to focus mainly on the residential side of the business, our umbrella company has been trading in the construction industry since 1985, both in the UK and abroad, working within the heavy civils field. We are proud to say that we have worked on many very well known projects. We also formed a land development company in 2014, this deals with larger construction projects.
What guarantee does your work come with?
We provide a 12 month guarantee on all our work to improve your home. New builds are covered by the 10 year guarantee provided by the NHBC cover.
What do you love most about your job?
As a company we are very focused on providing a finished product that the client is completely happy with.
Personally I would say what I love most about my job is seeing the client beaming with happiness when they realise their dream home has become a reality. This is very rewarding for a builder who is passionate about his work, as am I.
I also enjoy the fact that everyday on site is very different from the one before, there are always new obstacles to overcome and as the build or home improvement progresses it brings different faces on site. It keeps life interesting!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have worked within the family's heavy civils construction business since the age of 18 but always had a passion for residential home building. There finally came a time in 2014 when I was able to branch off from the main company to pursue this passion by building larger residential and commercial projects. Last year I decided to go out on my own and formed Bishop Ltd to hopefully make my mark within the construction field in my own right. I feel totally ready for this new and exciting challenge in my career.

We may not be the cheapest company out their but we are extremely passionate about what we do and this reflects in our work. We also value our tradesmen, without their hard work and dedication we would not be able to complete the work to the high standards we always aim to provide. We also always aim to complete every project on time and on budget.
