Myself and Janis Logan had a new conservatory built last year with a glass roof, what we didn't take into account was that our house is south facing and was either to hot or to cold. After much discussion we decided to go for a solid roof conversion. Me being me I spent over a month looking at all the various options available from cover overs to light weight roofing systems. I spent a lot of time deciding on the three company's that I wanted to come out for a quotation, John at Armour being one of them. From initial contact to the quotation, John was able to provide me with all the technical aspects of both the systems that he uses (Guardian & solid/ timber construction) and answer any questions that I had. Based on the three quotes that I received and the knowledge that John was able to provide, we have just the works completed last Friday. Both Paul and Stevie are an absolute credit to themselves and John, clean/ tidy and there attention to detail is second to none. John and his team fitted a new uPVC front door with two side panels for my parents. He was very patient with them and even called up the manufacturer to see if they would make a door that they liked! His team arrived on time on the agreed date and fitted the door. We had a little staining that turned out to be excessive activator. Someone was sent to clean it once I notified John. I asked for local recommendations for windows and doors to be replaced and this company was the one everyone mentioned. John the manager came round late due to my working hours and was not a problem for him to do. Was given an estimate for the windows and doors. He went through all the details how everything would be done from start to finish and how long it would take. I went ahead with the work and I must say I was more than impressed. The joiners and fitters were extremely pleasant worked well, and made sure everything clean and tidy once finished. How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
The best way to really know if your garage is good for conversion is too get one of our surveyors round for a free survey.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
The first thing to do is get one of our surveyors round for a free survey to ensure the garage is ok to convert. The 2nd stage is getting our architect to draught up drawings and submit them to the council. Stage 3 is to order the material and line up all contractors required, like electricians, plumbers etc. After that we would fit out as much of the garage as possible before blocking up the door in preparation for the window going in. Finally we knock through the house in to the garage, if there is no door access already from the house. At this stage all the messy job is done so there is very little upset to your home. The whole process takes roughly 2 weeks for a standard garage.
What do you love most about your job?
The best part about my job is seeing something coming together and the good feeling you get when you know you have left a great job and the customer is happy with what we have done. This gives me and the guys a feeling of satisfaction.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I worked for some good companies that didn't focus on the whole customer experience. With big companies the order of importance in their mind is, 1 sales, 2 install and payment, 3 snagging and customer service. What I mean by this is, they would have sales people selling things in the wrong way and if they were busy getting work fitted, this would take priority to keep there figures up for that month. This put service and repair work off until the company had some spare time. I thought I could do a better job by focusing as much on customer service as any other part of the business. I don't just want one job from you, I want a customer for life.
Why should our clients choose you?
My Name Is John McCulloch and I am the owner of Armour home improvements. I spent many years with Everest as an installer. I trained in all of there products and achieved Master installer with them. I then progressed to become a service engineer due to my high level of workmanship. If there was a problem with a job they would send me out to fix it. I then went on to be the National service manager for one of the biggest home improvement company in the U.K. This is where I trained vocationally in construction Management to degree level. The reason I have told you all of this is, I have seen every problem you could possibly come across. I have set my company up in such a way that we rarely have any snagging and if we do it is put right in a timely manner. We are very big on customer service as you can see by our reviews.
