About

I am a classically trained soprano in my final year of study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, where I was accepted as a Trinity College London Scholar in 2018. Prior to this I studied singing and piano at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester.

I always look forward to Antonia's lessons because they are always fun and she has helped me progress so much!

Antonia has been teaching my 10 year old daughter over the past year. The level of Antonia's teaching is outstanding. My daughter's singing level has progressed very quickly and always looks forward to Antonia's lessons. Antonia has a really warm, friendly and calm teaching style. She teaches vocal technique in a really detailed and methodical way. Each session she goes through warm up exercises and always keeps the lessons interesting with regular updating of songs. She also has the flexibility to teach both classical and to mix up the lessons with some pop songs to keep my daughter engaged. You can tell from my daughter's singing quality that Antonia has given her a great foundation in singing. I would have no hesitation to recommend Antonia. She is fantastic. More...

Q&As

Through properly developing the voice we have the ability to liberate our means for personal expression, story telling and communicating. It gives us the opportunity to explore our authentic self and celebrate our differences, since there can be no voice quite like yours. Such skills are often overlooked, but teach us plenty about the essence of being human.
My favourite saying is: I don't sing because I am happy, I am happy because I sing.

My own vocal training started when I began lessons at the age of nine and as I grew older I recognised the significant and invaluable impact this had on me as a child and why I feel strongly that children deserve to learn music. Through music lessons children can build discipline, sensitivity and confidence and this is something I feel passionately about facilitating for every student.

I have been providing singing lessons online throughout the entirety of the pandemic and have discovered that it serves as a highly effective way for teaching singing and theory. All that is needed is a Skype or Zoom account, and I will provide learning materials via email.

Services

Singing Ethos:
My belief is that everyone can learn to sing when taught properly and holistically and can experience the joy of discovering the unique qualities of their individual voice. This is a joy which I share with my students and why I find teaching so rewarding. My experience is predominantly (but not exclusively) with children and I love to watch as their love for their voice grows.

What you can expect:
I believe it is important to teach with an emphasis on technique and vocal health, so from the first few lessons students learn about the body and the way the voice works. I address this through exercises and breathing techniques as well as songs appropriate to age and stage; (usually based around the appropriate ABRSM Grades). I strive to create a fun, nurturing environment where learning and confidence can be optimised.
