How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Enough space i.e width and most importantly head-height
First approach,inspection,we get into the loft,we measusre from the ceiling to the ridge line(there are laser measuring tools thst can easily do this),if the head-height measured is 2.1 meter or more this loft spsce can be converted into habitable space
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Loft conversion can be the very traditional domer type flat roof loft
To the more complex crank beam type roof sytem loft
The first stage is architectural plans
Do we need planning permission or we dont need planning permision?(loft size e.t.c)
Next stage building regulation
specification,i.e insulation,roof tiling
details,heating,fire protection,
drainage,the building regulation department is intrested in all this details,and the requirement must be met.
And most important of all the Structural drawings plans,analysis and design book(calculation sheet),the builder needs this information to provide you with a reasonsble quote(tender),he also needs this for construction on site once the plans are approved.
