Very comfortable and a good choice before embarking on our trip. Good honest breakfast just as one would wish for. Did not eat in for no reason other than there were so many choices of other pubs/restaurants nearby.

We booked this hotel via booking.com, wasn't expecting much to be honest for the price we paid. |The room we stayed in was on the 3rd floor which we accessed via an old lift which scared me a bit but I'm a wuss when it comes to lifts, the room 63 was lovely, 2 large beds that are nice and comfortable, tidy bathroom though there is a crack in the sink, towels,heated towel rail and little wash stuff in the shower/bath. |The floor is a bit creaky and you can hear people passing your room because of the floorboards in the corridor creaking. |Location is good, 5 minutes walk to West Quay Shopping Centre.|I cannot comment on the bar or restaurant area as I didn't use these facilities. If you can find room in the car park to leave your car there is a £5 fee for the parking permit. |Would I stay here again? Most definitely I would. More...

Such friendly, welcoming staff! Nothing was too much trouble. Great location! The breakfast is delicious and well worth the money. I was even offered the party food from a private function, on my late return. Clean, comfy and safe. Only niggle was noisy guests at times. The bedroom furniture is also dated but I loved it... Stayed here last night, the staff were friendly, the room was clean and tidy, the location was good, the thing I liked about this hotel was that there was, an iron, ironing board, a fan, and a electric heater in the room, we would stay there again the next time we are in town thank you.

Nice hotel with very friendly staff, particularly in the bar. Is great for the price you pay for just a weekend trip. Main issue was our rooms bathroom which had no floormat, was quite dirty and the shower took a long time to warm up.

Really helpful and got me my room even though I was slightly early due to the wedding I was attending... lovely single room great shower. .the only issue was the bed was not great and needs an upgrade to memory foam. We stayed one night, my fiancée has recently been confined to a wheelchair and the staff were extremely helpful finding us a room that would||Be suitable for her. .. the room was clean, comfortable and bright, bathroom was spotless, tv table fan and tea facilities in the room... we would stay here again any time! Not sure what the negative reviews are about... the hotel is old and has wonderful character, if you want a premier inn go stay in one, this hotel has bags of charm and lovely staff, couldn’t ask for more! Great check in with really nice management. She saw how jet lagged I was and offered a soda water from the pub bar. I met a gal in the pub who gave me ferry tickets to the Isle of Wright. ..I just met the most amazing people at this well located hotel. There several features that I liked in the Star Hotel. First one is nice staff, especially receptionist Kate, who has figured out all issues with a room and is fluent Russian speaking! This fact is very important for me, because I have ordered a room here for my relative, who is not fluent in English. Second one is location, because it is near to my apartments, so it did not take a long time for my relative to come to me.
