We arrived at the site John told us where to go and meet us there. Our first thought was WOW,john the owner told us where and what to do in the area he could not do enough for you. as it was end of October it was a bit cold and rainy when you go inside it was very warm and cosy. The place is amazing inside and out, it is so unique, you can sit inside and see yourself traveling around in it. The veranda is perfect we didn't get wet sitting outside looking at the views, the kitchen area is made like a little cottage with large windows so you can eat your meals looking at the views and the castle. John has put a lot of finishing touches to your stay, like cereal, biscuits, crops and not to forget the cider. Definitely going back again. Only thing I think would help in colder months is outside heater like you get in pub garden. More...

I camped at the Original Hut Company for two nights with a group of friends and our children aged 5-12, it is utterly beautiful, and the riverside location could not have been better. Walks and runs accessible directly from the site include stunning rolling hills and fields, the dramatic, moated Bodiam Castle and a couple of picturesque country pubs. The Hub which is on site, serves great Cafe food and drinks and on Friday evenings, stone baked pizzas (fab if you are camping but don't want the hassle of cooking). The showers are hot and loos are as you would expect on a campsite! Our kids could not have had a better time and the family who own the site were extremely friendly and helpful, with delightful children, only to happy to show ours around. I'd recommend going in a group. There are plenty of pitches for tents and tabernacles for those whom camping does not appeal to. I am not a natural camper but loved this! More...

Had a lovely stay at the Original Hut company last weekend. Great place for families - we were in a lovely secluded wood. We took advantage of the kayaking and paddleboading on the river on the campsite and the delicious coffee was definitely a bonus . Second visit I’m sure we will be back again More...

We have had the most wonderful weekend here in one of their gorgeous shepherds huts. The Hub is a great centre for the site (the delicious Friday night pizza night on arrival was most welcome! ). The riverside location was glorious - owls, bats, birds everywhere. we could see Bodiam castle from our dining table & enjoy the sounds of the steam train lines only a few hundreds metres away too. Lovely facilities, very friendly hosts - cannot recommend this place highly enough! (My boy loved it so much he didn't want to leave and asked why we couldn't live there instead! ) More...

We were kindly able to book a one nighter .. 4 ladies getting together for a glamping catch up On first arriving in the hut it wasn’t that clean and the burner hadn’t been cleaned out from the last occupants but hey we had anti bac wipes with us . unfortunately for us the day / evening was pouring with rain but we were not going to let that stop us from having a bbq unfortunately there were not all the proper utensils that you would expect but we improvised .. we spent the rest of the evening indoors enjoying our food and catch up when it came to bed time that was another matter not enough bedding .. just as well we had couple of blankets in the car we had to put the fire out in the burner as it had become super smokey inside the hut and windows had to be left open during the night . cold for those of us with no proper bedding next morning the change of weather was so welcoming.. beautiful sunny October day felt super fresh after a COLD Shower no hot water again we were not going to let this ruin our stay .. we cooked our own brekki on the stove both frying pans were dirty already only two rings worked on the stove we left about 11 and enjoyed a good walk to the Bodiam Castle and had a lovely late lunch in the castle inn we have done plenty of glamping in the past I’m glad I did the shepherds huts as they have been on our list but not to be repeated on this occasion... We hired Udiam campsite this weekend for my 40th. It was absolutely perfect! We enjoyed pizzas on the Friday night, a walk along the river and a visit to the castle (and pub). Not sure who enjoyed it more the adults or the kids - it was magical. Think we might make this an annual visit More...

Such a beautiful campsite. The owners were so friendly and helpful. The showers were running cold our first morning and they sorted it out quickly and efficiently. Had good from the cafe which was lovely. Staff very friendly. Fantastic location and nice and quiet. You get your own firepit and can choose your location, space depending. Camped here a few years ago, which was great, but just had an absolutely fantastic half term in a Shepard’s hut! Cooked over an open fire every day, thanks to the kit provided and plenty of wood. Really comfortable hut and very warm (didn’t really need the wood burning stove but when we used it, were very toasty!). Easy walk to the castle and a pub that serves great food and beer and the Hub is a fantastic addition. We WILL come back!! More...

We braved a March camp in our tent and had the most wonderful weekend. Booking was easy and communication perfect. Upon arrival we were shown to our pitch and were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. The nearby toilets were always clean, as was the lovely warm shower, both in a shepherd’s hut. Naturally we had a log fire and the amount of wood provided for £4 was plentiful. The surrounding area is amazing with plenty to do. Can’t wait to come back. More...

Have just returned from an amazing 3 nights in the Shepherds Huts. There were 16 of us, 8 adults and 8 children and we were all in absolute heaven. The huts were brilliantly kitted out with everything you could need, the communal area was fab and the showers were lovely and hot. The children had a great time charging around the field, building dens, climbing trees and watching the steam train. This was all topped off by a visit to the castle and roast at the Castle Inn. I cant recommend The Original Hut Company highly enough and we can't wait to return. Thank you !! More...

Beautiful part of the world, the huts are gorgeous - the showers are too hot (which is a good thing!) Anna and Nick couldn't have been more hospitable and very patient with my two little monkeys.
