We were looking for somewhere to stay in Lakes to get away from everything and relax in our company. Bowmanstead Cottage looked to meet our requirements, booking was easy and reasonably priced. ||The cottage itself is great, ~500 years old, walls are super-thick, doorways a little low and a fantastic open stone fireplace. We purposely turned the heating down low to really feel the benefit of the fire. It has a lovely cosey feel with large super-comfy sofa.||The cottage has everything you'd need including 2x bathrooms and a walk in shower!||It's ideally located just on the edge of Coniston, so an easy short walk into town and an ideal base in the Lakes in general.||Will definitely return soon! We have just returned from a lovely family break, staying at Beech Tree Cottage near Newby Bridge. We travelled as a family of 5. ||Check in was easy using a key safe. The cottage was part of a barn conversion and parking was available right outside.||The cottage was very clean, cosy and comfortable. It was extremely well equipped. The kitchen had dish washer tablets, washing up liquid, tea towels, cloths, sponge, bin liners. I had brought all of this with me but great that it was all here and included. The cottage was spacious and a great base for exploring the lake district.||We had booked a Tesco delivery for the day we arrived which was great.||The cottage has its own access to lake windermere which was great for the children. There are also access to woodland walks and the children even came across a rope swing in the woods which they loved.||There was a very detailed information folder within the house giving lots of ideas and suggestions for walks, activities and eating places. This was really useful.||Overall, we had a great time at Beech Tree Cottage and we would definitely recommend to others and return again.| More...

Just back from Netherbeck Cottage in Coniston . Had a lovely relaxing week . Well equipped cottage . Close to amenities . Lovely long walks . ||Just two small things..! No hairdryer in cottage . Not a big deal ! The only other complaint is building work going on next door. A brazier was left burning all day which led to smoke blowing into our garden which meant we couldn’t really sit outside in the garden or use hot tub much . In all fairness when we spoke to workmen they apologised and said they would put a lid on the brazier when finished.||Apart from that small issue I would really say that this cottage is worth a visit . We have recently returned from a short stay at Sunny Brae Cottage in Haws Bank near to Lake Coniston. The cottage is perfectly placed in a quiet village about 1 mile outside of Coniston and is ideal for access to many of the major Lake District visitor attractions. The shore of Lake Coniston is a short walk from the cottage and the boating centre and cafe, just a little further. The cottage itself is well appointed with a modern kitchen, comfortable sitting room with a log burner (logs & kindling provided) and three good sized bedrooms each with its own en-suite which we found very convenient. The two private parking spaces and the private garden with a secluded seating area added to the charm of this property. The decor in the cottage is a little dated but this does not at all detract from the overall ambiance of this charming Lakes property. The local pub The Ship Inn is less than a five minute walk from the cottage but it would be advisable to take a torch or some 'high viz' jackets as the main road can be a little hazardous at night. The choice of local ales is great and the food is excellent but it can get busy so it would be advisable to get there early or try to book a table. They also do a 'take away' menu. A short drive down from the cottage in to Coniston you will find a number of other pubs all of which offer food as well as local takeaways. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunny Brae Cottage and would definitely consider staying there again. More...

We stayed in this lovely cottage for a week as a family of 6 with 2 dogs. The cottage itself is quite quirky, particularly upstairs with uneven floors but this is all part of the charm and character of Thwaite cottage. Everything you need for a self catering holiday is provided. The gardens are beautiful with lots to explore and parts lead to different levels where once at the top you can sit and take in the view. The location of Thwaite Cottage was perfect. Just a 10 min walk into Coniston village and Coniston Lake is literally on the doorstep with lots of activities. Only negative (and reason for not scoring 5*) was the upstairs carpets which were in need of attention. Coppermines have since informed me that Thwaite Cottage is to undergo renovation works throughout this winter which includes levelling of floors, replacing carpets etc. I would certainly recommend this lovely quirky cottage and would stay again if we were to holiday in Coniston in the future.
