I have always been an athlete and I'm not used to being sidelined. In May 2018, while opening a drawer, my back seized up and left me in so much pain that I couldn't move. It turns out that it had finally had enough after 12 years of supporting me while it was injured (and I didn’t know it). In 2006, a week after an Ironman, I went on a 100-mile bike ride, during which I lost control on a gravelly mountain pass, hit a post on the side of the road, and smashed my face. Though the impact kept me from going over the edge of a cliff and saved my life, it left me broken. The doctors fixed the most visible problem, my face, but no one thought to talk to me about severe whiplash and I didn’t know to ask about it. A badly bent neck and spine can do what they can until they can’t anymore. And last spring, they gave out. I went to a chiropractor and got all straightened out, but it still hurt badly when I ran. I was weak and unable to run as fast or as long as I was used to. Nothing worked like I wanted because everything was in a different place. Finally, in March 2019, I gave myself the best present ever and went to work with KJay Davis, who set out to strengthen all of me while paying expert attention to my healing body and its specific and changing needs. He is smart, conscientious, experienced, and incredibly attentive and intuitive. I trust him implicitly. Now, my full-body strength is better than it has ever been. I can do things I never thought I could, or never had the opportunity to try. I weigh exactly the same, but I've gained four pounds of lean muscle and have lost 3% body fat. And what's most important is that just last Saturday, three months after I started working with him twice a week, I ran without pain for the first time in more than a year. Not only have I shaved off the two minutes per trail mile that my injury required, I feel great while I'm doing it. Hello friends, colleagues and future members. My name is Carlos. One of the best decisions I have made has been starting the 6 Weeks Challenge with KJay.Before joining the 6 Week challenge I had gained considerable weight due to being inactive through the years.  Because of my weight gain, this had resulted in not feeling good, and even getting high blood pressure.When I met with KJay, the first thing he did was interview me ask me what my goals were for the 6 Week Challenge. KJ is awesome - he is knowledgeable and relentlessly upbeat. The workouts he devises (he comes up with some doozies) make sense and build on themselves. I can't say they are "fun", but they are not boring. The group that works out here is supportive and knows what they are doing. I have learned a ton from them. Plus, they're just good people. In two months, I can feel a difference. In the first 6 weeks, I would be exhausted by 5:30pm on the days I worked out. (Well, I was exhausted by 6am, but I could barely keep my eyes open once I got home from work.) Now, I am happily fatigued, but not fall-on-the-bed tired. That's a nice change. I also notice how much stronger I am in normal life -- picking up boxes, carrying in the groceries, etc.... Now, if I could just master the rings.... More...

if you're looking for a gym where everyone gives you their dedication to make you the best version of yourself, this is the gym for you and everyone you love. I started my fitness journey back in January/February. I had just come back after having taken a year off due to a back injury. I weighed 200lbs. and had 20% body fat. When I started I honestly never thought that I would have the same strength as I had before my injury. Then May came around and I had been consistently going to the gym and working out and I realized that although I wasn't eating badly, I also wasn't eating the way I should have been. So I decided it was time to focus on my nutrition. KJay and Bennie really started to push me into training for Spartan races. After I started focusing on my nutrition, I started really seeing a difference and noticing some body definition. I have dropped down to 11% body fat and sit at right around 170lbs. I have more energy, feel better in general, I'm not as hungry nearly as much as I used to be, and my daily headaches are nearly non-existent. August 11, I ran my very first Spartan race and ended up finishing 1st in my age group. That was a HUGE accomplishment for me. Because of KJay and the SCE family that has been created, this accomplishment was possible and I could never have done it without any of those people pushing me to do my very best. I don't want to miss a day at the gym. I love my consistency and I love seeing the results this far and cannot wait to see where it goes from here. If you want a killer workout, an amazing and godly coach, and a very supportive community, SCE Fitness is absolutely where you need to be. Previously, I had been on a cycle of bodybuilding and cycling, which in the army doesn't really equate to too much besides, well nothing actually.

I came to Kjay through a mutual friend needing help. We both talked about my aspirations, what I needed to work on, and our mutual passions for cycling and Christ. We were able to work out a plan that allows me to do my mandatory workouts and then come in and work out with the Spartan crew in the other mornings.

What makes this so sweet is that Kjay isn't going to give you a false sense of accomplishment, but in no way is he going to even raise his voice (angrily). He's supportive, knows his stuff, and knows exactly how to come alongside you and encourage you and push you. The community working out there won't get down on you either. It's not a cancerous environment so common in these types of high-performance gyms. They are exactly like Kjay in terms of support and encouragement. No one dresses crazy, and everyone there is welcoming and right knit. If you don't believe me, just look at all the other reviews or better yet, talk to Kjay at SCE Fitness personally!!?

I haven't gone to SCE for that long but the time that I have spent here has been amazing! I have had so much success not only with weight loss but with self confidence and personal strength. KJay really showed me how to dig deep and find that drive that I knew was there but had been locked away for so long!

I have also met some seriously amazing people here and have made some friends that have impacted my life so much. The trainers really push you to your limit and dig out what you are made of, Bennie I'm talking about you! I started going to SCE Fitness 1 year ago. I was looking for somewhere that was going to help push me past my fitness plateau. I found that at SCE. The most energy and enthusiasm you can find in a gym trainer and have intellectual integrity is with Kjay Davis. If you are willing to put the effort into your body/health, Davis will give you the extra push to make it there.I learned speed, agility, and raw power! My first routine never consisted of any safety measures and through a safe social environment, SCE taught me how important it is to focus on your physical health. Form in lifting, Foam Rolling, Flexibility, BMI, and Nutrition. My running speed raised exponentially from when I first began last year. I now sprint a 30 yard in 4.02s. Working on my BMI for muscle mass versus fat mass helped me reach this speed. Cardiovascular Endurance was even more influential through this program. I now love running long amounts of distance, running up to 14 miles. I used to run only two or four miles and felt tired afterwards.Nutrition is something that this program first came to attention. Unfortunately, I haven't personally taken all the steps to be successful in this area. Kjay definitely taught me the steps revolving around exercising and protein, but I failed to pay attention to my other problems. I gained a little weight which was part of our goal, and I still continue to maintain it while taking on massive loads of cardio. The most important part of this: You are treated like family no matter your shape, size, or personality. I'm a stubborn, hard-headed, very pushy person when it comes to physical activity. Kjay got me to slow down and open my eyes at certain aspects that are relevant to my journey. I can not Thank this man enough, please go check him out. I am 43 & have used several trainers. After years of athletic injuries I just can't go crazy anymore. I must be conscience of my physical limitations to avoid injury. Wife & kids to support..... KJ un like any trainer I have seen pushes extremely hard, always being "Mr positive" and is always in tune with my personal limitations. How he remembers all our personal goals & boundary's is beyond me. His extensive knowledge always finds new ways to push our bodies so hard without risk of injury. I was approaching my 50th birthday and had done some working out on my own. But I wasn't getting very far and knew I needed a bigger push. KJay posted a new Boot Camp class to start in the fall at the gym and I decided to give it a try. When I first met with KJay, he asked if I ran at all. I said an definite "no" and it wasn't going to be something I would do ever. Well now almost 2 years later after working out with KJay, I am running. Not just 2-3 miles but long distances. KJay is a trainer who pushes you to try your best and see what you can do even if it is outside your comfort zone...nothing is impossible. I can proudly say I have toned up and loss about 10% of my body fat. I have learned a lot about myself by completing a 10k run, a Spartan Beast Obstacle Race, and a half marathon. I've tried many trainers over the years, got bored then went off on my own with varied results. I decided to try one of KJay's group classes and was amazed at his energy and how innovative his approach was. I've stayed with him for 3 years now!!I'm in my late 40's and in the best shape I've ever been with a body fat percentage hovering around 12%. When I was first introduced to Kjay, I was in a space where I lacked confidence about my body and my physical abilities. I had always been fairly active but found myself getting "stuck" both mentally and physically in my workouts and in my daily habits.Kjay spent time with me to get to know what these sticking points were both ones I recognized and ones he helped me to see, and to set manageable and realistic goals for me. In truth, what I lacked was a good routine, confidence and someone to help push me along the way. By working with Kjay, I was able to set small and attainable goals which helped build confidence and ability. KJay cares about the people he works with and honestly strives to help them achieve their goals - not like brand name fitness centers that just care about the bottom line. KJay knows how to motivate, when to push, and when to let you relax a bit. He works with your schedule, your fitness goals, and your personality. He really is a PERSONAL trainer. One aspect of his program that I like is the flexibility in time and type of workout. KJay has been very accommodating of the many life events that tend to interrupt or force training to be rescheduled. When my long week of work is making that 5:00a.m. class too early KJay will find a way to squeeze me in later in the day. (Or he'll just get me working twice as hard the next week!!) I also like the flexibility in the type of workout. I don't always want to do one-on-one sessions. Sometimes it is nice to be in a group. KJay offers a variety of group classes from light to heavy workouts to augment the one-on-one times. He can set you up with the right balance of individual and group workouts. KJay also mixes up the exercises from week to week so you are never doing the same thing or working the same muscles for too long. It keeps things exciting and fresh each session.I've been working with KJay for nine months now. I sought him out after falling out of shape following surgery on a broken wrist. About 9 months ago I first sat down with K Jay for a consultation about possibly starting a workout routine with the goal to just get in shape. That meeting has turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. K Jay has radically challenged the view I had of my self and he has continued to push me to reach my true potential. He has a unique gift to meet people where they are at and push them to become all they can be if only they just believe it possible. After 9 months I finally believe in the impossible and am now training to run the Super Spartan this October in Seattle. K Jay has been my biggest motivator, fan, and friend in my journey to become a better me. If it were not for K Jay I would not be pursuing a better future and life for my self. So thank you friend for being faithful, true, and ready to help me along in this journey of life. KJay cares about the people he works with and honestly strives to help them achieve their goals - not like brand name fitness centers that just care about the bottom line.  KJay knows how to motivate, when to push, and when to let you relax a bit.  He works with your schedule, your fitness goals, and your personality.  He really is a PERSONAL trainer.  One aspect of his program that I like is the flexibility in time and type of workout.  KJay has been very accommodating of the many life events that tend to interrupt or force training to be rescheduled. When my long week of work is making that 5:00a.m. class too early KJay will find a way to squeeze me in later in the day.  (Or he'll just get me working twice as hard the next week!!)
