The hotel looks a little dated but that is part of it's charm. It is a real timepiece with great period features. The car park entrance is a little tight but there are plenty of spaces at the rear. We stayed in the main hotel rather than the lodges and it was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of hot and cold food served in the Orangery. Would recommend. More...

Had a lovely stay at Purbeck House Hotel . A lovely , character-filled hotel , very friendly staff and set in pretty, manicured grounds. Stayed in the Louisa Lodge , which is separate from the main hotel but it absolutely wasn't an issue. Room was clean and tidy , if slightly dated ( which , tbh personally isn't a problem , as modern hotels just don't 'do it' for us.) ||Hotel is perfectly situated ,2 minutes walk from the High Street yet it gives you the feel of being away from the hustle of a busy town. ||Breakfast was everything you'd expect , continental and English. All well cooked and is served in the attractive glass-walled summerhouse . ||Will definitely stay here on our next visit to Swanage , ||The ONE negative that stopped us from giving it 5 stars was that the mattress wasn't very comfortable ( very firm) but having said that, we have a very soft mattress at home so always struggle to sleep on anything firmer . ||All in all , a really lovely hotel . A definite recommendation . More...

It was mt second stay at thiss hotel. The single room was convenient and comfortable. Breakfasts were very good with plenty of choice. Although it was a buffet, staff were on hand to ensure the fried eggs were fresh and to take orders for porridge or kippers. Staff were friendly and when the rain caused me to have to change room it was achieved with a minimum of fuss. More...

Picked this place for a last minute jaunt to Swanage, and was really pleased we chose it. It was £104 for a garden view (we ended up with room 6 which has the balcony over the main garden) and it was a lovely warm, cosy room. The staff are great and the building is beautiful - a great historical building in beautiful gardens. Breakfast was great-a huge choice. The hotel is ideal for short walk to the beach and the shops, pubs etc in Swanage. We will definitely book this hotel again. More...

Stayed here for two nights over the Swanage Blues Festival weekend. We had room 3 which had dual aspect views over the town and Swanage Bay. Yes it’s a bit dated but that aids the atmosphere, everything was clean and comfortable. Great check in, shown different areas and everything explained. The building is beautiful, fantastic floors and lovely old decor. The grounds are lovely and spacious. Very good breakfast with good quality items, lovely sausages. My only criticism of this is the food wasn’t hot enough for my taste. Take a look at the old convent chapel and the toilets! All in all enjoyed our stay, will definitely stay again when next in Swanage. More...

We booked two twin rooms for a very reasonable price, and were not disappointed. The main building is a former big house, or may have been a convent, and as such has extensive grounds to the rear, in which a new build annexe has been erected. ||||We stayed in the annex in a well appointed twin room with a good bathroom, and comfortable beds. Execellent shower with plenty of hot water, and high water pressure, and toiletries provided.||||Breakfast buffet was included in the price, and is served in a purpose built modern Orangery style annex attached to the main buildng a short across the ground along paths lined iwth lavender. ||||A couple of downers were an over sensitive fire alarm system, in the annex, which went off at 12:45 am when someone had a shower (we guessed), waking everybody up. And slightly grumpy staff on the second morning, and a breakfast buffet that was showing signs of longevity when we got to it, especially so far as the fried potato and scrambled eggs were concerned.||||However these did not put us off and for the price we paid were satisfied, and plan on staying again on a future visit.
