Large extension and existing house renovation so a large project.
It pains me to leave this review as I thought I got on really well with Joe but it would appear it was all fake just to get payment. Even most of Joes staff thought the way I was treated was appalling.
I did due diligence and was warned by a previous customer in Eastbourne that towards the end of a project Joe seems to give up and move on to the next project but I though I would give Joe the benefit of the doubt. How wrong was I. I am sure anybody that’s reads this review will be told a pack of lies about me just as I heard about his previous customers so all I can say is you have been warned.
Bricks at front of house damaged due to bad workmanship
Having to repaint as done poorly multiple times
Used our toilet like a site toilet
Used our milk without asking
Exploded can of Dr Pepper in freezer
Scuffed front door a few times
Broke light fitting
Broke hat stand
Buggered up a few carpet door bars
Threw rubbish in our hedge
Left rotting food in a box in our hallway
Somebody used the newly installed toilet when they shouldn’t have.
Food waste dumped on pile in front garden
Cans left in back garden
All of my wifes Coke Zero cans drunk without asking
Used kitchen like a canteen and made it disgusting
Scratched kitchen sinks
Got paint over kitchen units
Fitting of some doors bloody awful
Quality of plastering sub standard
Mum without downstairs toilet for nearly 5 months due to a bag of cement left in the pipe. This should have been rectified sooner.
Messed up on carpet order so I over ordered.
Having to use our hoovers as somebody broke site one
Delay after delay given so many dates for different things that were never met.
9 months to replace scratched glass is just one example.
Lack of response to texts.
The work was supposed to finish in February and still isn’t completely finished even though I made the final payment in good faith.
Since I made the final payment all my texts, calls and emails have been ignored.
I was nothing but patient and always paid early as Joe normally asked for it early.
The list of things that went wrong is endless and the amount of staff that came and went was ridiculous.
There was always an excuse as to why things were late it became a joke.

Joe and his team have just completed a single storey extension for us and I have to say that from start to finish, it has been a pleasure to deal with Mitchell’s. Joe has kept us up to speed with progress throughout, and the whole team have been great - they have respected our home and nothing has been too much trouble. The quality of workmanship is first class - it’s not often that you can say that we will miss having the builders around! If you are looking to have any kind of building work undertaken, Mitchells come highly recommended. We look forward to seeing them again later this year for some additional work to be undertaken. Joe and his team were professional, and polite, they did a fabulous job and I couldn't have asked for a nicer team of builders.
