What inspired you to start your own business?
I believe that I am here today through divine inspiration and surviving life's storms of over 30 years in personal development, experiencing working across multiple market sectors, in different roles on government funded contracts, a journey where I can share my passion for 'helping you, to help yourself, to help others' .....
I have developed a wide network of contacts across the public and private sectors, including a local panel of fellow private practitioners including counsellors and therapists working in association with me in the Health & Social Care sector.

Cognitive Behavioural Coaching
With its origins in counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC) is a powerful coaching model that draws on evidence based psychological models. The strategies, activities, techniques and exercises used are effective in helping individuals identify and challenge individual thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are self-defeating. Negative thinking leads to negative emotions and negative emotions lead to negative behaviours, all of which has an effect on an individual’s body. Many common daily challenges such as stress, lack of confidence, perfectionism, loss of meaning and purpose, poor communication skills or being less successful at work usually lead back to an individual’s personal perception of self and the behaviours engaged in on a daily basis. Cognitive-Behavioural Coaching aims to help clients gain a perspective about whatever is at the root of that person’s difficulty. Coach and client work together to identify what might be stopping an individual from reaching his or her full potential and what action is needed to take charge of their situation. The aim of CBC is to develop ways of thinking and the associated behaviours that are more productive and likely to assist the individual reach their desired goals in life. The process helps clients move towards becoming the kind of person they want to be, attaining the types of outcomes desired personally and professionally. If someone can talk themselves into being miserable or ineffective they can talk themselves out of such feelings and learn the associated behaviours that will lead to success. Whether emotional or practical, everything an individual needs to be successful can be traced back to a set of skills. CBC helps individuals develop such skills.

Mind Works Project
The aim was to support individuals with mild mental health problems in North East Lincolnshire to become more active members of their communities by improving their life chances and pathways back to work. Achieved by creating a development worker role to practically support, advise, guide and mentor them through these processes. The pathway involves engaging individuals through agency referrals, self-referral or community activities. An interview takes place at the volunteer centre where a suitable placement is agreed. The development Worker and Volunteer centre liaise with the chosen organisation to agree an informal interview with the client that the Development Worker attends as support. The first day of volunteering is agreed and between the volunteer, Development Worker and Volunteer Coordinator at the organisation, frequency of visits are agreed. Development Worker emphasises the need for the volunteer to inform the Development Worker if he or she is dissatisfied with placement and an alternative placement is arranged using the same process. During the volunteer’s placement he or she maybe signposted to appropriate support agencies if his or her needs are complex e.g. CAB, mental health, MIND. After an agreed time, some volunteers wish to attend training or look for paid work so goals are set in partnership with steering group partners who can offer appropriate support. The exit strategy is to ensure that at the end of the volunteer’s placement with Mind Works he or she has the appropriate support from relevant services.
