This is a great innovative university that really cares about it's students many people are complaining about bad management and things going wrong for them but I love this university! My course BA Acting is the same standard of trainning you would receive at any drama school. The teachers are passionate and hard working and the new campus is beautiful with everything that a student needs. There's been problems with security but that is predictable with a new campus, and problems have been dealt with and we've always been treated as if the students come first. More...

Two of my grandchildren have gained Firsts from UoN despite the poor organisation of the place. I was originally delighted that they would attend the same University as I did in the early 1970s when it was a College of Education. My delight began to turn sour over the past 18 months as I have seen grandchild number 2 struggle to access facilities promised at recruitment, find adequate technical support to showcase his work, and to be denied the opportunity of using the Summer between Year two and Year three to begin his Dissertation. At £9000 a year, I feel he was short changed in several ways. I am angry that he has got so much debt for a Course that was badly run, with no help to find work, despite a First. More...

Services

Acanthus provides a cost effective, diverse range of outsourced operational and strategic HR support to companies too small to have their own in-house HR function, but who need to be compliant with the law.

Our service is based on 2 sound principles;

• to offer your business a “prevention rather than cure” HR solution so that you can concentrate on developing your people and expanding your company, and

• to make HR easy for you so that you can concentrate on running your business.

I am an HR professional who has had exposure to a diverse range of businesses, from manufacturing to hospitality to legal/professional services and everything in between!

Acanthus specialises in “prevention rather than cure HR” and supports organisations which are new to market and well established with Strategic HR planning and Generalist Operational HR support either on site or remotely.

As and when required, the company also provides ad hoc support and advice on Employee Relations Matters, freeing up senior management time, and ensuring a cost effective service to the business.

We also offer an HR Audits and Compliance service, advising the organisation on the finer details of employing staff, and making sure that you do not fall foul of legislation. Following on from this service, we can then draft you a Bespoke Company Handbook and a range of Employment Policies specific to the demands of your business, and when that's all done, offer you support on managing the talent bank that you already have working in your business!!!
