Our 25th Wedding Anniversary was held at This Venue over the weekend 11th to 13th October.|The whole facility was designated to us and no other guests were at the Hotel. |Keith, Carol and Andrew with the help of their staff ensured that everything was perfect for over 30 of our residential guests and a further 30 guests and their children for the main celebration on Saturday.|From the initial enquiry a year ago to the farewells on Sunday our celebration was managed by Lavender House in all aspects with a high degree of expertise, professionalism and energy, we were advised and guided at all stages of planning.|The Main Event on Saturday evening was faultless, the decor spectacular and food was just scrumptious. Even the sword used to cut the cake was cleaned and prepared by the Owner.|I cannot thank and praise Lavender House Hotel enough for their services which I can only describe as outstanding! More...

I went to a wedding here and wow its such a lovely place, very cosy bar, massive garden, big areas inside. Would highly recommend to anyone to visit weather its for the day or for a meal or to stay whatever the case it's a must.

We stayed for two nights in a superior room. The room was nice and clean with a good shower. Comfortable bed. The food however was the best bit it was excellent and very reasoable priced. We both had steaks and they were cooked to pefection. Highly recommend the food. The hotel is perhaps a little tired in the decoration and furnishes but thats down to personal taste as much as anything. More...

Wedding at the Lavender House. From my point of view from a Photographer & Videographers eye. I found the hotel set back from the country lane , just a min or 2 from the A38. Nice with open space, we did have good weather. Opening up the doors to the gardens for a nice cool orange juice with the guests. Nice gardens and tree views with some hills. After reading good wedding reviews about Lavender House we booked my daughters wedding.From the moment we spoke to Keith till the very end he was involved and with his years of experience every thing ran smoothly and kept my daughter calm and relaxed. He helped with the choice of menu and catered for a vegan guest.|The hotel rooms ,were out of this world ,big,clean with a comfortable bed,the bathrooms spacious and clean.My daughter and i were driven to the church in their Rolls Royce which is well kept.Arriving back at the hotel Keith said when the newly married couple arrives he wanted everyone to jump on tables , make a noise throw as much confetti as we liked as he said this is the day he wants them to remember ( almost as if he was the father ) .Once again the timing and the flow of each event was smooth and never once did anyone feel as if they were waiting for something.Once all seated ready for lunch the staff were quick clean and polite , be prepared as the portions are really big ( being a man who loves his food I was happy) the flavour and quality was unexpected and everyone was more than happy. The tables were well spaced and very well decorated , and the bottles of wine were placed on each table befor we entered.Keith and his staff were at easy reach but not hanging over your shoulder so lunch went well. This hotel is perfectly placed for a wide range of leisure activities such as historic towns, and houses, animal sacturies, open farms, great walks and heritage activities such as steam trains and vintage tram rides. The food is excellent particularly the breakfasts which offers a wide ranging menu with cooked food to order. The hotel is situated in lovely grounds in a quiet and pleasant location. Arrived just after 2.30pm and was able to check in straight away. Given room 7, one of the smallest in the hotel. Room was clean and tidy and over looked the garden and surrounding fields. Nice family run hotel, staff were pleasant and friendly. Had breakfast the first morning, which was lovely, although the beans were cold. Had an evening meal the 2nd night which was very tasty. Booked this to use an activity voucher for a 2 night stay with afternoon tea. Booked by phone to ensure I was clear about what was / wasn't included and asked for an email confirmation of the booking. This was sent very promptly either the same day or the following day. I've seen a number of quite mixed reviews for the Lavender House and was not sure what we would find but we found it all to be very nice indeed. I did notice a slight fusty / damp smell on first entering the reception area but didn't notice it anywhere else or even on re - entering the area. We checked in no problem - there happened to be some one at the desk as we arrived but I can imagine that people might have a wait sometimes as it wasn't manned all the time. staff I found to be very friendly and helpful and we were told just to let them know whenever we were ready to have our afternoon tea. We arrived too late in the afternoon to want it on our first day so we had it the second day. It was specifically a cream tea - not afternoon tea but we could have asked for sandwiches if we'd wanted them. We had a nice pot of tea each - all nice matching white china - and 2 large homemade scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream and a couple of fresh strawberries. It was all really lovely and served us as a lunch as there was no way we'd have managed to eat a lunch as well. Our room was very nice with a comfortable double bed (might have been king). Bathroom was nice and clean and modern but I did find that it took a LONG time for hot water to run through the shower. Probably because it is an old building. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food on both nights was excellent - I particularly recommend the mushroom wellington - really nice. They seem to have a really decent chef there. It wasn't massively busy but we were there mid week and I know they have a lot of weddings there so it's probably busier then. It's in a lovely location with great views of the Devon countryside. It's also worth the walk down in to the town of Ashburton which takes about 30 mins depending on your fitness because it's quite hilly. Nice little shops there and a few pubs / restaurants (none of which we used). I would recommend this hotel and had we stayed longer it would have ad some nice walks as well. More...

Only let down was the evening meal in the restaurant, waited for an hour after ordering and then my order was not as described on the menu, price reduced to 50% as compensation. Arrived to a nice easy check in , hotel room 8 garden view was bright and cosy with a lovely outlook over gardens and fields, spent a nice lot of relaxing moments in cosy lounge bar with its gorgeous fire and comfortable sofas, owners and staff were absolutely brilliant nothing to much trouble, food was out of this world and prices were good as was bar tariff , it was a lovely get away for a proper relaxing break and we shall return
