First contacted HQDB in 2019 about our Orangery extension. They completed the design and planning submission and we negotiated a price and a start date for Feb 2020. During the tender process for our barn conversion in a conservation area HQDB immediately stood out. It was quickly very clear that the HQDB were head of shoulders above the other businesses that took part in the tender – both in terms of effort and expertise. From that moment on, right the way through to completion of the build – the level of service, care and quality of workmanship upheld was absolutely faultless. We are absolutely delighted with our project.

I couldn’t recommend HQDB enough! We’d had a few quotes from a number of design and build companies, but it was Steven at HQDB who impressed us the most! Steven not only oversaw the development of our house, but also project managed everything for us too. Nothing phased him in what we wanted, and nothing that our property required was a surprise to him. From the start we could see that the team at HQDB are a team who see solutions in things that need to be done… there’s never a single problem.

Once our work began, the team showed real care in our design. They worked with a number of structural engineers to ensure we had the right secure structure that was needed, yet still fitted with our dream of how we were looking for our home to be developed, and it was Steven who guided us when we needed that guidance and were “wobbling” with our design. He was spot in right!

The team who worked on our house from start to finish were nothing but polite and diligent too. I really felt that my home was in safe hands, and that the skills the team possessed meant they could do pretty much anything.

After 6 months of the team finishing, we had them back to do some extra work for us…. And if I ever wanted another house built / renovated…. I’d be on the phone to them instantly! More...

Stephen and team fully renovated our Victorian property in 2020. We chose HQ Design & Build after meeting a few different builders, and thought they were well priced, honest on their appraisal of timescales and most importantly after we met them a couple of times we felt we could fully trust them with our house. During the project itself they kept us updated on progress, let us know with enough warning when we needed to do anything, and clearly talked us through options when any decisions needed to be made. We also had a positive experience with all the sub-contractors HQ design and Build recommended. The end result was exactly as we wanted with the project coming in on budget. We undertook at big project - converting a 1950s bungalow to a 2 story house whilst we were living there with two young children. Working with DQDB was an absolutely brilliant experience from starting the build, through various design iterations, right through to completion. In fact, we increased the scope of our work after seeing how well the build was going and they worked with us to produce new plans and get them through planning! The whole team were courteous, professional, respectful and tidied up each day - more than that though, every member of their team were fully engaged in the project and were happy to discuss each aspect to the level we wanted - from the height of the door handle to the way the stairs turned, or a beam should be fitted. Lucas pulled it all together, working hands-on, co-ordinating various trades showing up to overcoming supply issues and tweaking the design on-site whilst explaining everything that was happening with aplomb. We worked with HQ Design and Build to construct our single storey kitchen extension with new washroom. From the outset HQ stood out from the pack - the clarity of the quotation, the responsiveness to our questions, and to our request to speak to one of their other customers, even arranging for us to visit one of their other local in progress projects and speak with the homeowner, all convinced us to appoint HQ.

We were not disappointed – the whole team were respectful of us, our home and our neighbours, always leaving the site tidy after a day’s work. They communicated directly with neighbours on our behalf to allay any concerns and answer questions, and we trusted them absolutely, leaving them with keys to continue with the work while we were away. With us both working full-time, knowing that the team would provide and coordinate the various trades sub-contractors (we found several of the builders who provided us quotes wanted us to do this) and consult with building regulations, and Thames Water as needed, was invaluable to us.

Stephen, Lucas, and their team were also incredibly flexible, for example when the kitchen delivery was delayed, and after completion, they were proactive and responsive when it came to snagging, rectifying any issues quickly.
