Absolutely stunning place!!! Exactly what my fiancé and I needed. Get away from the crowds and chaos of city life and completely disconnect to reconnect! The cabin is beautiful and has everything you need, I would suggest bringing candles in the winter months as the solar powered lights don’t always last too long. You can have a gorgeous walk to the Hideaway Cafe where they’ll more than gladly supply you with extra candles and fire lighters if needs be. All the staff are so friendly and helpful we can not fault them one bit. The hot tub can take a while, basically once you’ve got the log burner going, whack a big log on and you’ve plenty of time to go for a walk, check out the scenery and wildlife and possibly catch a fish, then just top it back up when you get back. We loved jumping in as the sun went down, listening to the owl who loved giving us a good hoot now and then! We really cannot wait to return! It is absolute bliss! More...

We spent 4 nights in Otterstone following our wedding. The cabin is beautiful, plenty of space but still feels cozy. The location of the cabins is ideal, we felt totally isolated however in reality were only a short distance from Longtown and Brampton to stock up on necessary supplies. Brampton is well worth a visit, lots of little antique and gift shops to visit. ||||Despite arriving later than planned due to poor weather we were greeted warmly by Gillian who gave us a tour of the cabin and a guide to using the wood burner and the hot tub. ||||We would recommend having a meal at the Hidden River Cafe, despite it being a small restaurant the food and drink choices were excellent and if we are passing through we would definitely be stopping off for lunch. ||||We had a lovely break and we will definitely be coming back for our anniversary next year! What incredible buildings these cabins are! Truly stonking log cabins - our children enjoyed finding out the ages of some of the trees used in the construction. ||Upon arrival the 'sauna' aroma immediately relaxes you!||Everything is well designed, spacious, comfortable and relaxing!||||We found that we didn't want to venture far at all. Tea/coffee and a pint of milk, ice cubes, d/w tablets, wood, matches etc a lovely welcome. Longtown has a Spar for the essentials, butchers, paper shop etc. Ventured a little further to the Morrisons back along the A7 to Carlisle for major supplies for the 9 of us.||||Comfortable beds - we moved the futon mattress upstairs so no one was disturbed by the children in the mornings - plenty of space in the bedrooms to do this. The king beds are tucked into the eaves a little. The upper floors are naturally creaky so noisy when walked on (especially into the upstairs loo). Well furnished - we loved the quirky tables made from scaffolding planks. Hairdryers, robes, towels and bedding superb. Could do with a couple of hooks to put towels/robes on as they are all white and easily confused.||Plenty of hot water - we didn't need to top up heating water with the log burner.||Bose bluetooth for tunes.||Plenty of non-breakable 'glasses' for use in the hot tub!!!!!||||The grounds were great for walks, playing badminton, cricket, paddling in the river catching fish and peaceful. A map for the walks would be useful. The paths could be slippery in wet conditions so do take care when walking along the river path.||Hiring the bbq was a little expensive - surely this could be included.||||We booked this for a special family get together and it was perfect! We traveled as a family to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. There were four of us in total including our daughter and grandson. As a family we've never had a holiday like this before and we were a bit apprehensive at being so isolated. We needn't have been. The location is beautiful and is around 5 miles from Longtown where there are shops, pubs etc. The reception we received upon arrival was wonderful. All the staff and owners are so friendly and make you feel welcome immediately. We were early for our booking in but that wasn't a problem as our log cabin was ready for us. We stayed in Otterstone which is probably the most hidden of the cabins as you can't see any of the others from it. All the cabins are spaced far apart with a small road connecting them to the reception/restaurant. They are enormous with large beds, a large kitchen area and a massive living/dining room. The decking is large with a lovely hot tub all ready for you on arrival. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of room to add your own supplies. We fell in love with it instantly and our grandson was amazed (he is 8). There is plenty of parking outside and the log store is within easy reach of the main door. The bathroom is downstairs but was large with both a bath and modern shower. We took a few days to work out the best way to operate the hot water/radiators as these are all fed from the log burner located in the lounge. Timing was of the essence as to who got the hottest shower! However, we found this all part of the fun and we gave my husband the job of fire officer for our 5 day stay which he took to with relish.||The restaurant is only open on Wed - Sun and as we arrived on the Monday we managed on our own supplies for the first two days. There were plenty of plates and cutlery and we had some lovely meals but were looking forward to our first breakfast at the restaurant. We were delighted with it and the rest of the food we ate in there. The chef is fantastic and even prepared a specially requested meal on the Thursday for my husband's actual birthday and also supplied a cake to help the celebrations. We all enjoyed every meal we ate and there is a good selection of meats, fish and vegetarian options.||I also booked a fishing lesson for hubby and grandson on our second day. Tim was a great instructor and very enthusiastic. They had great fun and had a few more goes on their own during the rest of our stay.||The River Lyne is a beautiful river and all the log cabins overlook it. Ours overlooked a weir with regular visits from ducks, pied wagtails and other birds. We were lucky enough to catch sight of buzzards a few times during our stay too. We didn't see the kingfisher but it gives us an excuse to come back and have another look!||The whole area is pitch black at night and the sky was amazing. The sunrise and sunsets were beautiful too (yes we were lucky enough to have plenty of sunshine so early in the year). We did the river walk which starts near reception. Be aware this can be a bit narrow and up and down in places but my grandson loved it and we saw plenty of birds around the woodland.||Sorry for such a long review but this place deserves no less. We were so chilled and relaxed when we left and being around traffic and people seemed so strange after such peace and tranquility. It was absolutely delightful. More...

No phone signal or WiFi in the cabins (but if you have to you can at the cafe onsite). The cabins are very spacious with incredibly good quality beds and a great log fire which heats the hot water as well. My boyfriend and I have recently returned from staying at Hidden River Cabins, more specifically Roe Deer Cabin as a joint birthday treat during the last 3 days of January. When looking for a “romantic log cabin break” we both agreed that we wanted something where our mobile phones would not work (we both have very demanding high stress jobs and wanted to completely switch off from the world in order to recharge and relax). Neither of us we dissapointed, Hidden River Cabins did just that. Whilst for ourselves this was bliss, the lack of WiFi and mobile signal may well put people off, although we were told WiFi could be gained at Toms Kitchen when you arrive at the site.||||We were met promptly at reception, given drinks whilst we waited for a member of staff to escort us to our cabin. Hidden River Cabins state on their website that the cabins are secluded and private; neither of us were dissapointed with this claim and the cabin was beautiful, stocked with everything one could need in order to live comfortably. The outdoor hottub and views over the river were stunning and we were both most fortunate to have snow during our stay which made the experience even more special. The break away ended far too quickly and both of us are eager to return again.||||Amazing mini break which delivered exactly what we wanted, Thankyou everyone at Hidden River Cabins for such a relaxing enjoyable stay.
