I came across Glide about a year ago through ClassPass. I have visited probably 50+ gyms through ClassPass. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly in what's out there. Glide is one of the best gyms in San Diego!!! Josh and Lisa are wonderful trainers. They are caring, knowledgeable and will make you feel at home at their gym. Their classes are kept small and they know their clients. This is so important because they will work around injuries and customize workouts to their clients. They have been so supportive during this Coronavirus crisis. They have let me borrow equipment and are still providing amazing classes through Zoom. Even during online classes, they are paying attention to form and providing adjustments. I love Glide classes so much because it's basically personal training in a small group setting. Glide offers an excellent variety of group classes including HIIT, weight lifting, plyometrics, TRX, pilates, yoga, recovery/stretching classes, as well as personal training. Great place for fitness! Awesome results with community feel complemented by small business hands on approach to client intimacy. Josh and Lisa are not only strong owners and trainers but really caring people. Holly and Radar are super therapy dogs. As a customer, Glide checks every box that drives home value for my financial investment. Couldn’t be happier that I found them. It’s been 4 months and counting. I’ve dropped 10 pounds and at least 1 waist size while improving my energy as well as confidence. This Facility is EVERYTHING! To be honest I was a little hesitant at first because I am used to doing circuit training with 20-100 people in the class and this one caps out at 8 (maybe just for the FAST AF that they do). I've been searching for a work out in San Diego that not only pushes you to your limit so that you feel empowered when you leave, but is also exciting enough that makes you want to come back. I've tried so many gyms and this is definitely it. There are 8 people so that they can focus on your form. In the last two years, I've been to numerous gyms in numerous cities, and while I've found some that I love, none focus on increasing your power while also focusing on literally every detail of your form. I've basically been doing every move wrong for the last few years. They are so intent on focusing on your form and pushing you beyond your limit. The class goes by so fast. You know that the instructors care about you and the people that go are so friendly. I have a knee injury from running, and Josh modifies the workouts so that I strengthen and restore my injury. I highly recommend it if you want to increase your strength, improve your form, focus on injury prevention, want to develop a relationship with your instructor, want to go if you are trying something new and might feel hesitant about being in a personal gym. Cannot sing Josh & Lisa's praises enough!! Their classes are tough and effective. They're small and super personalized. They pay close attention to each person offering corrections, identifying weaknesses, and suggesting addition stretches, techniques, or exercises for improvement. I have bee training with Josh & Lisa for at least 4 years now. They are both super awesome. Totally committed to their business and their clients. I have seen miraculous results. I have participated in group fitness classes here regularly for the last year and a half. It is a fantastic value- the classes are usually capped at 2-4 participants so you get significantly more personal attention than in larger group classes. Josh and Lisa also have extensive training and will work with you on your individual goals while keeping you safe and avoiding injury. This review is long overdue! Lisa and Josh are the best. I have worked out in so many cities, gyms and had various instructors/ trainers and they are the best I've known. I stumbled upon this local gym via ClassPass about a year and a half ago when I moved from San Francisco down to San Diego, and became hooked. These two know what they are doing. Not only will you gain strength and overall fitness, but mobility which will allow you to stay active without injury! The classes are personal and small allowing for you to actually get instruction and personal encouragement. Honestly, all fitness levels and ages. It is small so the workout works/ adapted for everyone. The classes are all different allowing you to chose the type of workout you need. They mix it up and you never get bored. I've been a loyal member for a while and usually I bounce around between gyms. This one has it all. I don't usually write reviews, but Glide is great and you NEED to go.Ps: recently they added yoga and (I am not a yogi) but it's fun and personalized! More...

Josh and Lisa at Glide Training Co are awesome! I've been training with Josh for about 5 years now. He has worked with me through every injury I've brought upon myself in my personal workout endeavors and has guided me through many weight loss challenges. He adjusts the workouts to what is going on with my body, like doing a whole stretch session to prevent injury when my muscles were really tight. He will meet me at the beach for a beach workout to improve my beach volleyball skills too. He also developed a plan for me for my upcoming wedding which included heavy lifting up until I had hand surgery and now cardio workouts. He coaches me with food choices and holds me accountable with weekly weigh-ins and my food log. He knows exactly how hard to push me and how much weight I can handle (even when I think it's too much!). I've lost at least 6lbs and have majorly toned up! They even let me bring my dog to the studio to play with their puppies. The studio is awesome, air conditioned and spacious. Amazing personal trainers, they really pay attention to your form and needs. I especially found it helpful that they explained how the exercises worked my muscles to get the form I'm looking for. Couldn't recommend this enough !!

ng with Josh for the past couple of months and the results speak for themselves. Josh has really helped my husband stay accountable for his health and fitness goals and motivated him every step of the way. I was so impressed with the progress I saw in my husband that I decided to take Lisa's Basic Booty class with a friend and we both LOVED IT! Lisa made sure we had fun while working out, with awesome music and a high energy vibe that pushed us all to get every single rep in! I have also since then had private sessions with both Josh and Lisa, as well as a custom meal plan from Lisa to help speed up my weight loss. I have been on the meal plan for a week and a half now and have already lost 7 lbs!!! They make fitness seem less like a chore and more like a fun way to just live your life. Josh & Lisa are an amazing team of professionals, and they got me TOGETHER. I have spent most of my life LOATHING gyms and couldn’t connect with any of the numerous ones I’d tried before. I preferred working out on my own running, hiking or yoga. I had the opportunity to work out with josh over the weekend while visiting my best friend in San Diego. I was stoked because I don’t like messing up my routine and was looking forward to a nice little sweat sesh. Josh and his gfs humble aboad also serves as their training facility and you instantly feel at home, especially with their two cute guard dogs watching you sweat. (Community and openness is my jam so it was a good feeling, esp being an out of towner)As I started my circuit josh and I started talking some more and eventually found out we have more in common than my friend who brought me there... ex soccer players, terrible hip flexors and loads of past and current pain. He saw me struggle with some excercises that were right side dominant and tweaked my form, and made me do a few other work outs to really see how god awful my hip flexors are. We shared our past expeirences with visiting PT’s, chiros, etc etc. He grabbed a small ball and wanted me to try out a few things and eventually went upstairs to grab his portable table and had me lay on it. He introduced me to active release therapy (ATR) and basically told me what he was about to was going to hurt like hell. I was so game. I was super interested because anything that he’d been through with hip flexor pain, I have and still am going through as well. It did hurt but in a good way. I immediately felt some release in tension on each side, and was really stoked he took the time to do this for me and to teach me. I’ve always been a firm believer in finding someone you can trust in the gym, especially since we bonded as athletes first- I knew he was good. Regardless of your experience, athlete or not, or if you’re scared to start something, I fully support you giving Josh and his gf a try. They care, they’re fun, and they know their stuff. They have degrees to support the science behind it all, but they also have first hand experience which to me is very important. Think about what you could gain by taking a group class, or a one on one session... I got all this in one hour...Thank you again josh, you’re rad! I’ll be back soon! More...

Josh and Lisa are absolutely amazing.  As others have said, they are about full being health; diet, exercise, mental state, everything.  I've been working with them only for 6 weeks and the results are amazing.  I am coming back to fitness after a 7 year hiatus and they know exactly how to far to push and when to let up.  Tracking results and motivation are two more benefits of what Josh and Lisa offer.  I know quantifiable how I am doing, not just from the bathroom scale.  Finally, they are both extremely knowledgeable in the science and will "geek out" on the physiology of what we are doing and why.  I've learned so much about my body and health beyond just getting in a good workout.I cannot recommend Josh and Lisa enough.  If you are looking for a trainer, stop looking and schedule a time, you won't be sorry, although maybe a bit sore! ;) More...

PLEASE READ.Lisa and Josh not only promote physical, but also mental wellness for their clients.  Glide training is my comprehensive elixir to aid myself with physical and mental well being.  Visting there, are my favorite days of the week!Not only do they work around my schedule (regardless of how it impacts themselves), they also noticed I became less energetic (really, I was "down") after my best friend chloe (yellow lab of 11 years) passed away.  Lisa and Josh knew that "hole" in my life and my heart contributed to me spiraling into an unhealthy physical and mental lifestyle.  I gained over 20 lbs and no longer had the desire to even jog.They helped me search for a dog during breaks of our session; while I drastically sipped water between the cycles of sophisticated and fun workouts they designed specifically for me, they were coaching me on when/if I was ready to consider a new pet.  Once I committed, the "breaks" of our workout became strategy to find my new pet.  Lisa and Josh, fully committed to me as always, saw my concern/trepidation to adopt/rescue this pet because I live alone.  I was afraid of being able to give the pet the time and attention they needed, even though I desperately needed and missed that (I no longer had dog beach, morning walks, that "lick" on the face to start your day, I missed my dog, Lisa knew it without me even having to describe or verbalize it - that's a tip to all - if you have that - that person's committed to your wellness, follow them!).Lisa and Josh morphed into our "village."  They agreed to welcome the puppy into their home for the first several days because they knew how nervous I was.  No, I was wrong; it was because they knew I needed her and she (the puppy) needed me; that it would make me healthier and happier while giving this orphaned animal a home and best friend.I added "please read," because in this marketplace, SAN DIEGO, you won't find trainers that care about YOU as a human or your holistic health.  EXCEPT, here. I've been in San Diego 15 years, finally I have a community of people (all of their clients, incredible folks) and a training team (Josh & Lisa) that universally cares about holistic health; I'm a liar, I'm so impressed how they care about me and make me better.  Give yourself the same gift, you won't regret it! Josh and Lisa are young, enthusiastic and knowledgeable trainers with both academic and real world experience. My fiance and I have been training with them for 3-4 years and can't recommend them strongly enough. Their prices are reasonable and they're located in a pretty centralized location, near downtown in the Little Italy neighborhood. Josh is an AWESOME trainer. I have been training with him for a little over a year now and I feel great!  I have had chronic neck and lower back issues for years and had been in daily pain for a very very long time. Josh knows just how to work with me on getting those areas strong. I am virtually pain free now. I am in my 60's and had never worked out with anyone. I was a little apprehensive at first as I was worried about injuring myself further. This couldn't have been farther from the truth. My core is stronger than its ever been. I have built muscle and no longer feel fragile. His prices are competitive and are worth every penny. He has an impressive knowledge of our body's anatomy and how everything works together. My fiancé and I have been training with Josh for several years now. I can't say enough good things about him.  Josh is a highly skilled trainer who focuses on your specific goals.  He has a vast knowledge of health, fitness, and exercises that focus on your "trouble" spots while still giving you a full body work out.  Additionally, Josh has taken me from not being able to run for more than about 2 minutes, to completing a 1/2 marathon - something I NEVER envisioned myself doing.  Glide also offers group training classes every day of the week.  I absolutely LOVE Tuesday night Booty class with Lisa.  Josh and Lisa both have kept us highly motivated and coming back for more year after year.  Do yourself a favor and sign up NOW - you will not regret it! THE BEST !!! If you have never worked with a personal trainer before DO IT and book it at Glide Training. It makes a HUGE difference to have someone else push you then to reply on being a self starter. I first started working out with Josh as a present from my bridesmaids to get in shape for my wedding.  Josh is highly educated about all forms of training and is well in tune with which exercise (or stretch) works best for your specific needs. I saw results immediately and have kept up with training with him long since my wedding. Both Lisa and Josh are extremely passionate about what they are doing and their energy is contagious. They are also very real and honest about what it takes to achieve my goals and hold me accountable until I reach them. I have been training with Lisa since May and the results she's pulling and kicking out of me have been astounding. I've lost over 30 inches around my entire body (almost 5 sizes), and a decent amount of lbs. I've still got plenty of work to do, but I know in Lisa I not only have an excellent trainer, but a true partner in my goals. I've learned to make better choices in the foods I eat, and she always pays attention to my body, pushing me hard and motivating me when necessary, and backing off when my body needs a break. I have been training with Josh for about two Months and as I start seeing more and more tone and changes in my body I can't help but write a review on how awesome of a personal trainer he is. I started as a first timer having never worked out with a trainer before , o felt out of shape and really needed some outside motivation. Josh is always pushing for me to do more and not only during the workouts but also tips on nutrition and overall health habits. I trained with Josh in 3 different sessions and, I really enjoyed working with him. As someone who has not exercised for some time, I was pretty weak, but Josh knew exactly how much to push me. He has a great variety of different exercises, some even his own creations. Some of his exercises works smaller muscles that are not used in daily life. He explains the exercises well, and makes good adjustments in the case of poor form. He can spot weak areas, and he then focuses on those areas. Josh has been a wonderful trainer and motivator. I've been training with him throughout my 5 months of heavy traveling and I know that without Josh I would have lost my motivation to workout almost entirely. It's difficult to workout while traveling, but I always knew I had Josh to answer to back and home and that whenever I was home he was ready to make me sweat. Josh not only is a great and knowledgeable trainer, but he also focuses on helping my diet and regular workouts. He will make you a food and workout plan to utilize when you're not with him. He also works around my hectic schedule and is competitively priced. Josh even went so far as to say he would run/workout with me on his days off! I have been training with Josh for 8 months now.  I have since lost 12 lbs and been able to fit back into all of my "skinny" clothes.  He does an outstanding job of personalizing your work outs based on your overal fitness goals, and body type areas of opportunity.  His work outs are intense, diverse, and cutting edge.  He is really unique in that he pushes you on different levels and has a way of making you believe in and push yourself to be the best you can be.  He also does a great job of holding you accountable to your goals and adjusting your plan as you get closer to meeting them.  His pricing is competitive, and even if it means sacrificing a few nights out or outfits I dont need, I am happy to do that to make sure I dont miss my work outs.  Besides helping me achieve some of my most daunting physical fitness goals, Josh has also become a friend.  He's very passionate about what he does, and genuinely invested in each of his clients.  I highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their physical condition in a fun, challenging, and personalized environement. Glide Training Co. is a collaboration by two of San Diego's finest young trainers. The studio space is a beautiful blend of urban city life with an intimate experience. This fitness couple has over a decade of experience and both have solid college education in the exercise sciences. Josh and Lisa use their background in sports to help clients of all shapes, ages, and sizes to achieve the body they want, increase athletic performance, or find a new love for health and fitness.

Services

Each REA will take a look at your running form from 3 viewing angles, front, side, and behind. Coach Josh will take a look at your running gait and provide an analysis as well as a plan to improve it. After 4 weeks you will perform another REA with video to see your improvement. Our REA program is great but works best when accompanied with a personal or group training package.

Sport-Specific training programs are highly detail-oriented programs. Coach Josh creates a program, tests often, and adjusts the program regularly to ensure all skills and abilities are improving. The S-S program is not for excuse-makers or quitters. You will follow through with your program and surpass your competition.

The most effective and intimate service we provide is a 1-on-1 session. We offer individual training programs designed to increase your performance. Each program is tailored specific to your goals, whether that be increasing cardio endurance, speed, agility, or sports performance. Our goal is to make you "comfortable with being uncomfortable." Indy sessions are purchased as packages according to session number or program duration.

Stretching is the number one prescription given by our coaches/trainers when it comes to injury prevention and joint pain relief. Most people don't stretch enough because it can be viewed as difficult, painful, or boring. Instead, have one of us do all the work for you. Stretch sessions usually last about 30 minutes, but can be extended to as long as 60 minutes.
