Donald did a house survey for us when we moved in 10 years ago. We were very happy with that and so recently invited him back to ask about some structural issues we were concerned about. Donald helped us out with these and also noticed a number of other things (a leak and some condensation issues) and made helpful suggestions for sorting them out. We asked Donald to carry out a survey at quite short notice for a property we were planning to buy. Although the house is relatively new we decided to do things properly and find out everything there was to know, especially as we are planning to rent it out to tenants. This has been an excellent surveyor service. My fiancé found Donald and Angela Leslie through a local search for Amersham surveyors. They were very fast in getting back to us and transparent in regards to their service package and costs involved. We took a while before actually instructing them and they were very patient with us. We eventually instructed them a couple of days before the desired date and they managed to fit us in despite their busy schedule. Following their comprehensive report they spent considerable time on the phone to us, explaining all the report points and how to tackle them. I really can’t thank Donald enough for all his help while I was hunting for the right house to buy. Buying a home is quite an overwhelming experience and so Donald’s expertise and experience were absolutely invaluable to me. My first point of contact was Angela who is so kind and always goes out of her way to help. She’s also very efficient and organises everything with regard to booking the surveys in with the estate agents/home owners. I really appreciated that Angela asked if there were any concerns that I had about the property before the survey or anything that I particularly wanted Donald to focus on. This was incredibly helpful to me and Angela was great at keeping me updated throughout the whole process. Any phone messages or emails that I sent to her were replied to immediately which meant everything ran smoothly and was stress free. I received the report after the survey very quickly. The report itself was very easy to understand and had photos included to highlight areas of concern regarding the house. I’m personally not very familiar with property or building terminology so I was pleased that the report was clear, with everything explained in detail and with minimal jargon. Angela said from the very beginning that Donald was happy to speak to me after the survey so that we could discuss anything about the property that I was still concerned about. This was invaluable to me as Donald really is an expert in all things regarding property and has many years experience surveying many different types of property in many different areas. Throughout the process of buying my home, I have spoken to Donald many times and he has helped me tremendously. Not only does he take the time to answer any questions about the property itself but he also really listens to what you want/need from a home. I had a very clear idea of what my requirements were when searching for a property to buy. Donald absolutely understood what I needed and talked through the advantages and disadvantages of the property with me in relation to my requirements. I would also like to say that Donald is an absolutely lovely man who is so kind and generous with his time. He genuinely cares about finding you the right property and is very honest with his advice. My husband and I are first time buyers and getting a survey was the most worrying part for us as we were nervous of what defects could be found. Donald Leslie & Co were recommended to us by the estate agents just before the Christmas break. Once I contacted them, Angela was able to advise us on the most suited survey for the property (Homebuyer's survey) and booked us in for the first week of January. The report was then emailed to me in less than a week and it was very easy to read and simply structured. Very helpful was his verbal report on the day of the survey, not over long but very informative. He made me very aware of the house's defects and benefits. Previously used another surveyor also from Amersham who missed two items which later cost me. I went for a Building Survey report through them because I was buying an older property and needed to know what I was potentially letting myself in for! In return I received in-depth analysis of the property's condition and practical/useful advice on the defects, and what my repairs and maintenance options were. This is money very well spent and often people skimp on this outlay, which is a false economy. Donald Leslie & Co Ltd were recommended to me by both my sister and mother. As a first time buyer of a one bed flat I wasn't sure whether to go for a homebuyers survey - there's so much conflicting advice out there. But being in an informed position before exchange took a huge amount of stress away and was undoubtedly the right decision. Happily for me no areas of major concern were found that would halt the purchase, but now the completion has gone through I feel able to prioritise the necessary repairs identified by Donald as needed. Donald was very thorough, and took the time to explain things detail. I’m not a plumber or electrician by trade and the findings were described in terms that a lay person would understand. Overall I think the service is excellent!We needed a detailed structural survey on an old house that we are buying in Amersham. I emailed Donald Leslie & Co Ltd and a couple other surveyors for a quote.While their price is very competitive, they are not the very cheapest, however I found their quote is backed up with a very well prepared sample survey. So I decided to go with them and wasn't disappointed at all.I found the entire process dealing with them is very friendly, honest and professional. The report I received is very clear and thorough with back up of photos to illustrate the problems. It has far more details than a similar survey I had for another house by another surveyor several years ago.After the survey, Donald, the surveyor called me and gave me a good brief of all the main issues he found, answered my questions patiently and provided unbiased suggestions.Later for our re-mortgage application, I needed to find a surveyor who can provide a survey report on "steel frame" condition, when I contacted them, while they could have taken on the work themselves, instead they recommended another firm to us who is more specialised and cheaper. I found Donald Leslie & Co a pleasure to deal with from the first point of contact with Angela through to report. We had the Building Lite survey. Following the survey, I was called by Donald to give an update on the general highlights. I had lots of questions and he was only too happy to discuss these with me. This discussion was followed up with an email, giving me contact details of specialists in the areas of concern highlighted on the report. A week later, I received the detailed report. This was clearly laid out with photo evidence where necessary, thorough and detailed the approx cost of rectifying any problems highlighted.
