Business Coach
I am an experienced business coach, having been trained by the School of Coaching while working at the BBC, to become one of the first cohort of the Corporation's internal executive coaching service. I am also presently acquiring additional qualifications and training with the Coaching Academy. My coaching experience is mainly with leaders and senior managers, though I do possess a fair amount of experience coaching others, particularly young people.
Management Consultant
My consulting experience includes providing a full range of independent, bespoke consultancy services to varied business, public and voluntary sector clients. Specialising in: leadership and management development; organisation development; stakeholder management; customer relations; public relations; diversity, equality and inclusion; and professional, personal and career development; and presentation and communication skills. My consulting career combines both self-employed and salaried roles - the latter at the BBC, Berkshire Consultancy Ltd, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations and Victim Support.
Mediator
My mediation experience includes work with organisations working in the vital, complex and sensitive field of child protection, where it has been my role to reconcile competing interests and agendas to help deliver better protection for children. I have also mediated between service users and providers in mental health and worked on delicate industrial relations relationships for businesses and trades unions.
Writer
My excellent communication skills are one of the cornerstones on which I have built my successful career. As a BUSINESS writer, I have applied these skills to documents of every kind, including reports, briefings, press releases, policy documents, formal correspondence and learning materials.
As a highly experienced, published CREATIVE writer, I have written fiction, poetry, scripts and learning materials for my work as creative writing tutor.
Training Specialist
I am an expert, highly skilled and vastly experienced learning facilitator, having led learning events of every kind, size and theme. I have trained groups comprising hundreds of people, presented complex or challenging material to resistant or sceptical audiences, designed and led national award-winning, year-long courses, designed a vast and diverse range of learning materials on subjects ranging from the hard business skills of procurement, soft business skills of leadership, complex sensitivities of supporting people bereaved by homicide and the legal and regulatory complexities of providing social services clients access to their records. This is but a small example of the vast and hugely diverse range of my experience of leading adult learning.
