Castlewood Leisure Club

Stayed here at Castlewood for four nights and 5 days.||The location is amazing if you want somewhere peaceful, the site is great with lodges a fair distance apart. The lodge itself was excellent, very nice and spacious. Had no issues with the WiFi The owner was lovely and had a brief chat with us on arrival. She had even put a pint of milk in the fridge very much needed after almost 10 hours on the road. Overall great stay. Didn’t have the hot tub , but would recommend. Will definitely visit again! Just home after a 3 night weekend away here. The journey out here is well worth it for the peace. Such a beautiful place with amazing scenery in every direction and some fantastic walks only 20 minutes from the site. The hot tub and premises we stayed in were amazingly well cleaned and kept which can't be an easy task considering the amount of properties on site. Site manager was a delight and helped swiftly and efficiently when required. Will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone looking for a log cabin get away. More...

The views were beautiful. The hot tub was very large and lovely. Only issue was lid was broken and tapped up. It was very heavy to lift because of this. It was a nice surprise to have the outdoor table and chairs upon the second visit. The first downside was our WiFi did not work for half of the weekend and once reported it was still very intermittent - we just felt the staff weren't very interested in the issue as it wasn't a whole site problem. The WiFi issue of course wouldn't be a big deal to a lot of visitors however a group of 8 young girls we were embarrassingly a little lost without it! The only other downside was the way a car parking situation was dealt with - my group were not aware of how many cars were allowed on site and although the lodge next to us were over their car limit too, we were greeted by one of the owners in quite an aggressive manner telling us we needed to move our cars and wasn't impressed when we tried to explain we had all had a drink and could not do so. Overall I would recommend and most likely go back but I would give the heads up that a situation a small as a car parking issue can turn sour. More...

Ok stayed here over the Christmas period and what a fantastic time we had. Stayed in lodge 17 overlooking the field with the reindeers in (great for Christmas atmosphere). The lodge itself was clean and well equipped, was even able to cook a full 3 course Christmas dinner and great having a dishwasher. The hot tub was great in the evening especially Boxing Day when we had snow. Just a quick mention while we were there we visited the Milton brassiere for food and what a fantastic place to eat. Booked a 3 night stay for 8 people in a lodge with a hot tub. Very reasonable price for a Hogmanay break and the facilities were excellent. The lodge was very clean and to a high spec, the hot tub was checked by the friendly owners on a daily basis. Kitted out with everything you need it really was a home from home. Limited wifi speeds and no mobile signal - but can't complain as it helps you switch off from the outside world and what can you expect when staying in the middle of the countryside?!||5 star accommodation. Firstly I must state how shocked I am that this site has any bad reviews at all.||We booked a lodge for 8 people for a 3 night break (just back today) and as always a little cautious of reading the few bad reviews on here. ||But can I just put you all at ease... Firstly the lodge was immaculate and so roomy!! Decor above what any of us expected (gorgeous fireplace, large flat tv, all mod cons) the beds were so so comfy even the single beds were large a lot wider than any caravan.||We had a lovely view of the deer's in the field right outside our verandah.||The hot tub was huge a very large bubbly hot tub which was cleaned every morning by the owners.||Yes its quiet!! Its ideal for people to relax or like us have a few drinks and a good laugh.||We could not fault a single thing here at all and would most definitely come back. So if your like us and do like to read some reviews please please take note of the positive reviews as you will not be disappointed. We were a group of 18 booking three lodges for a combination of long weekend and a week stay. We stayed here in Aug as a party of 16 for my sisters hen party. We had booked a 6 bed and 8 bed lodge but as they didnt have 2 together nearby they gave us 2 8 beds for no extra charge which we were delighted about! ! On arrival we couldn't see anyone in charge and no phone signal to get in touch but when we did find the people in charge they were extremely friendly and helpful. The lodges were so well equipped with all the kitchen utensils you could need! There was a welcome pack which was a lovely touch! the lodges were cosy and clean and the hot tubs were a big hit! Our hot water broke on Sat morning, we reported it and there was a plumber there within the hour and had it fixed. We went for a walk around the area which was lovely. We used taxis to get into Banchory which suited us. Was very anxious about the lodges due to some of the previous reviews but we were delighted with them and I would use them again no problem!!!
