How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Firstly you need to ask yourself if the size of garage you have will be big enough for your reason to convert. You need to remember that to satisfy building regulations the floor, walls and ceiling will have to be insulated. This will reduce the size of your existing floor space and head height. It is also worth a call to your local planning department to check that you can get change of use from a garage to a habitable room.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Depending on ceiling height and floor level from house if a connected garage whatever is the best way to adapt floor would be looked at then, remove garage door, dig and pour concrete for a footing ready for your half wall, brick up and install window. Room will now be watertight and secure ready for next stages. First fix any joinery, electrical and plumbing services. Insulate walls and ceiling, board out and plaster. Second fix joinery, plumbing and electrical. Paint and hand over to a happy customer.

AMG Design and Build was set up in 2011 to honour my first child being born. AMG stands for my sons initials. I have been self employed and run my own business in this industry since leaving college over 18 years ago.

I started taking on my own work for family and friends when I was still at school and during college, it was just a natural progression for me.
