Unfortunately, we had a terrible experience with Tim/Abco. When Tim first visited our flat to provide a quote we were impressed with his willingness to find solutions but from beginning to end, the job was unprofessional. Tim hired inexperienced workers to do skilled jobs and cut corners at every opportunity. We paid for “site protection” but found workers standing on our kitchen cabinets resulting in broken carcasses; a toilet cistern pipe flooding, again because a worker was not using a ladder; and complete disregard of our home. The plastering/painting was such poor workmanship that my partner ended up having to sand, fill and paint walls himself after the job was “completed”. Throughout the entire month of work, Tim insisted that we would get a professional finish and asked us to understand that it was all a “process”, but in the end we realised he had been duping us all along. He then had the cheek to say we couldn’t expect a good finish because we live in an ex-council flat (in Islington!). He will no doubt respond to this feedback claiming that we were demanding and wanted “God’s work” but all we paid for was a decent finish. The nail in the coffin for us was that a couple of weeks after he’d left, a crack in the ceiling we paid for him to fix reappeared. Tim’s response was that he no longer worked for Abco despite this being his own company. If you want to avoid cowboy work, we would highly recommend you do not employ Tim/Abco. More...

Our house were renovated outside, garden bomb shelter got cleared , garden landscaped and new slabs and stairs done. Very happy with the finish and the price was reasonable.

How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Check if you have enough head-hight or need to change the roof line.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Planning permission or permitted development depends on size. Structural engineer to give the sizes of the RSG (beams), architectural drawing with details - good for the builder. Inform council Building Control, so they can make checks in the process of work.

more than 20 years in the trade. Working on private jobs and subcontracting bigger ones.
