We were referred to Images by van Dam through our regular photographer to capture pics of our new short-term vacation rental in Meaford. He reached out very promptly after we completed a contact form on his website. We set up a tentative date for him to come over and take pics but we had to postpone the date since it was taking longer to set up the house than we had anticipated. Mark was very understanding. When we were closer to being ready we reached out again to set up a new date which Mark was able to accommodate. He came out and photographed the entire house. With over 25 years of experience as a professional photographer, digital photography specialist and educator, one theme runs through all I do; I create solutions, solve imaging problems and make photographs sing with communication.
In my early 20's, I came across the book, "the Family of Man" based on the most encompassing and internationally acclaimed photography exhibition to date. After reading and studying the book, I became so inspired that I ran out the next day and purchased a SLR camera and shortly after a darkroom. I spent most of my free time photographing and producing photographs and in 1995 took a leap of faith and opened my first photography studio.
The Family of Man: This very ambitious exhibition, which brought together hundreds of images by photographers working around the world, was a forthright declaration of global solidarity in the decade following World War II. Organized by noted photographer and director of MoMA’s Department of Photography Edward Steichen, the exhibition took the form of a photo essay celebrating the universal aspects of the human experience. Steichen had invited photographers to submit photographs for consideration, explaining that his aim was to capture “the gamut of life from birth to death”—a task for which, he argued, photography was uniquely suited. The exhibition toured the world for eight years, attracting more than 9 million visitors.
