I'm Kimberlee Tolentino, owner and trainer at Little Monsters K9 Academy. I started my career in dog training as a bewildered owner of an explosively aggressive rescue dog. After months of following all the trendy "should do's" of dog training only to watch his behavior escalate to dangerous levels, I found myself faced with the reality: that one way or another, my dog was going to end up dead if we continued on this path.
Welcome to Peaceful Pups Dog Training. We’re glad you found us! We offer science-based, force-free training and behavior consultation in the greater Seattle area. Peaceful Pups believes every dog-human combination is unique; therefore, training plans should be customized to each situation. Our trainers work with you privately in your home or at a mutually agreed upon location. We believe in rewarding dogs for good behaviors versus punishing them for undesirable ones. I use force-free, reward-based training methods that set dogs up for success and help clients with a variety of training needs, including new puppy support and basic manners training, as well as those dealing with more challenging issues, such as fear and aggression. I believe effective training builds communication between dogs and their humans, and I aim to keep dogs safe in their world and well-integrated in their homes. I don't try to create Stepford (“perfect”) dogs, but happy and safe companions. I do not believe in using choke or prong collars, e-collars, or other common training tools that create fear or pain. I do believe in front-attach harnesses, flat collars, patience, and humor.
The first session is online. Subsequent sessions are generally in person, however can be online if requested.
I am currently holding sessions outdoors or via Zoom unless there is a training-related reason to meet indoors. Masks are required regardless of vaccination status—both indoors and outdoors.
