Good Boy Dog Training

Los Angeles County

I do a doggy day school style of training. Your dog will stay with me in Harbor City and I will spend the full day working with and training your dog. At the end of the day, I do a lesson with the owner explaining the training process and how to build on it at home. I am doing this at an introductory rate right now so give me a call before the price goes up! I do a free consultation to meet your dog and if you decide to do the training, it costs $50 per dog for a full day of training. I am a full time firefighter in Los Angeles working a flexible schedule. I am a search and rescue dog handler and a dog trainer. I became fascinated by dog training when I took my personal rescue dog to a trainer. I read every book I could get my hands on and started volunteering for the trainer’s non-profit service dog business. He took me under his wing and showed me the ropes. We work with service dogs, protection dogs, search dogs, drug dogs, weapons detection dogs, bomb dogs, and we board and train companion dogs in basic obedience and behavior correction. We take the dogs out a minimum of 4x a day, take them with us around town, brush and groom the dogs and bathe if needed, go on hikes and provide plenty of socialization for the dogs. I am in Harbor City and also have a location in Santa Anna. Santa Anna is also the primary location of our non-profit Board and Train Studio. If you are interested in dog training, send me a message or call me. All earnings from dog training are put towards training service dogs for people in need!

What do you love most about your job?

I love getting to change people's relationships with their dogs. Having a dog should be a wonderful experience. It shouldn't be stressful, your dog shouldn't make you frustrated, and you shouldn't have to be stressed because of your dog. I get to help people make having a dog be the fulfilling experience it should be. The most rewarding experience is being able to train a dog that would otherwise be euthanized. Every dog deserves a chance at a good life.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was inspired by the dog trainer that trained my dog. I had a pitbull from a shelter that I thought was untrainable. The dog trainer has trained service dogs, bomb dogs, search and rescue dogs, and any other kind of working dog you can think of over the years. I became fascinated by the things these dogs could do so I read every dog training book I could get my hands on and started volunteering with the trainer to learn anything I could. I spent hundreds of hours with him training dogs and the hands-on lessons I learned were more valuable than any book I've ever read.

Why should our clients choose you?

I offer a unique style of dog training that gives your dog the chance to actually learn something. Dogs are learning 24/7 whether they are training or not. For this reason, the typical one-hour private or group lesson model does not work. I can teach a one hour lesson and make your dog sit for a treat and maybe you will leave happy, thinking I trained your dog. But the truth is, your dog is still learning when he gets home and doesn't sit. Everything dogs do become habitual patterns for them whether it's the pattern you want or the pattern you want to break.

My style of training is different. After a free evaluation, I will spend an hour or a whole day training your dog. Then I will do a private lesson with you explaining exactly what I did with your dog. I film videos of what I do and share them with you, explaining every step of the process. I tell you exactly what you need to do at home (because, remember, the dog will continue learning) to solidify the behaviors I teach. I am also available to answer calls from my clients anytime they have a question and if I don't know the answer, I won't BS you. I will find the answer and get back to you.
