I have been a student of White Tiger since I was about 4 or 5 years old. When I moved away due to my fathers job relocating us, I chose not to continue training at a different, out of state doe-jahng. When I finally moved back to the area, I was welcomed back at White Tiger by Grand Master Rondy with a smile and open arms. White Tiger was my second home during my childhood, and is still my second home as a young adult. Having to re-learn all of the material (thats my fault for not continuing practice - even at home!) all of the instructors have been so patient with me. White Tiger has always been a family, and I have always been proud to be apart of it. More...

(Note: I am posting this on behalf of my son). My name is Andrew and I am eight years old. I started Taek Won Do when I was 5 at White Tiger. I have had great Masters and instructors who have taught me TDK over the past few years. I have learned a lot from them! I started out as a white belt and have received my first degree black after 3 years of hard work. My current goal is to receive my 2nd degree black belt next Spring.TDK has taught me to be very focused and disciplined. I enjoy going to White Tiger and taking different classes including forms, sparring, and board breaking. White Tiger has a demo team and I was very excited to be chosen to participate. Each demo team rotation is for six months and I get to perform at birthday parties, local and school functions and even march in the Cary Christmas parade. One of my favorite summer time activities is to attend the White Tiger summer camps. The camps are a lot of fun and include TDK class, arts and crafts, water play activities, and more. There is something for everyone at White Tiger no matter what rank you are. I would recommend other kids to come to White Tiger and learn about TKD and also have a lot of fun! More...

This review is long overdue. We’ve been coming to White Tiger for about 9 months now in Tiger Tots class. Our son has grown tremendously, building confidence and earning his first sash. He even likes to practice at home, randomly repeating moves that he learned in class. Mr. Mike is an awesome teacher, firm and fair, setting a great example of behavior for the tots. Master Rondy and the school care a lot about maintaining an upbeat winners’ attitude at school and hire great teachers. I like they do different events to gather new students but also to make it a fun and engaging place for current students. Our son is always excited to come here; he knows that it’s a place to learn and practice but also to have fun. They had a great Halloween event in the fall and a nice Easter egg hunt today. Thank you for everything that you do! More...

I'm still very new to White tiger but it seems to have a positive atmosphere and patient instructors who enjoy what they are doing.

I started training at white tiger from the age 11 on to 17 and had the best experience. Trained on their elite team and received my black belt. Not only did I make many great friendships but it helped me get through my teenage years in a positive way. My entire family trained there. Now 27, I have children of my own who are excited to see what the big fuss was about! I’m super excited that my kids are now old enough to go to their events (New Years sleepover). If you’re on the fence, just do it. It’s the best school in the area and wouldn’t go any other way for authentic training. More...

My family joined about 3 years ago and got me to join them 6 months after they started. Our family has enjoyed every moment of being there and it is something we can all do together as a family. We've enjoyed going to competitions, both local and distant. The masters and instructors here really care and provide extra help at a moment's notice. The facilities are second to none and every detail of supporting a family or individual has been thought of. Today, my boys are getting for 2nd degree black belt while my wife and I just completed testing for our first. More...

I have been training at White Tiger TKD for over 11 years, receiving multiple blacks belts in two disciplines. I have been there through the many changes that you may have seen commented on in other reviews. I can state that there is no other school, any where like White Tiger! We are a family, a close knit one, and the school becomes a second home. There will never be one school that perfectly fits everyone in every situation and that is often where the negative comments and nay-sayers evolve from. Grand Master Rondy McKee and Master David Wright fully support and encourage their students to be not only the best martial artists that they can be, but the best individuals! The glowing reviews you see posted are from students or parents of students (I'm both) who truly love our school and use our actual names when posting our reviews, not made up names from made up [laces of employment - like the most recent negative one throwing accusations at WT. I'd invite you come visit and form your own opinion about our school, I personally think you'll love it too! When I became involved with the Blind Judo Foundation a few years ago, both Grand Master Rondy and Master Wright, whole heartedly supported my involvement, so much so that GM Rondy allowed me to organize a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu charity seminar with all the proceeds going to benefit the Foundation. There aren't many schools that allow, much less actively encourage, outside instructors and Masters to come to their schools and teach other disciplines to their students. However, GM Rondy and Master Wright recognize and actively seek out these types of additional trainings to make us better and well rounded students and martial artists. She worked with me to find free mat time in a very packed schedule, so that I could bring Professor Derek TC Richardson and his team from Leadership Martial Arts in Charlotte to train our students. Professor Richardson, in turn, donated his time and expertise. Our students received an outstanding seminar that complimented their current training while donating to a wonderful organization. Additionally, GM Rondy invites world renowned martial artists in a variety of disciplines (Wing Chun, Jeet Kune Do, Hapkido, etc) to do seminars at White Tiger for our students. How many other schools can you name that would do the same?I encourage you to think critically when reading the negative posts about White Tiger posted anywhere and come visit before forming your own opinion. Respectfully,Sherry Cataldo More...

Joining White Tiger Taekwondo has been a very positive experience for my family. When we were looking for a Taekwondo school I did a ton of research. I am so happy that we ended up at White Tiger. The masters and instructors are very knowledgable and always willing to help out and answer questions. My boys love the diversity of the classes. There is sparring, self defense, forms and belt level classes. Each class focuses on something different so we are always learning. I highly recommend White Tiger! More...

When I was training at White Tiger I realized that I have a better experience there at training then anywhere else cause I am friends with Master Rondy who is my dear friend and when I stopped going there I didn't know I had my 1st degree black belt already there waiting for me but when I showed my boyfriend the facility and I saw it hanging up I come to a conclusion that I am going back to White tiger to earn that belt and to also be apart of the demo team there at white tiger :)

My family joined White Tiger a year ago, and we were very impressed with the owner, Master Rondy, the highly certified instructors, the facility, and the students who attended classes there. Although we had black belts from other schools, we soon discovered that we did not possess the level of skills that White Tiger Black Belts demonstrated on a regular basis. We had to undergo an intense re-learning process and test for a REAL black belt this month. IT WAS ALL WORTH IT!!!! I feel more charged up and more enthused about martial arts than ever before! I read a recent review from a parent complaining about the cost and commitment - but i disagree with her. This school is not more expensive than others - our family paid more overall at a local ATA school to "buy" our black belts - but a black belt at White Tiger means so much more because of the skills we had to learn. If your goal is to simply get a 1st degree black belt and then say good-bye, then maybe you should reconsider your commitment to martial arts. A black belt is only the beginning to even higher levels of training - not the end. I have three daughters and I want them to be able to defend themselves - and to develop excellent life skills. White Tiger is dedicated to teaching those things FAR BEYOND what I have seen at other schools. They have the best instructors in the country - available every day!! You can't get this level of training for free, nor should you expect to pack in a whole lifetime of learning into just 3 years. That's like complaining that your son can't play pro baseball after three years of American Legion ball!! Its unrealistic! I just want to say that I am MORE IMPRESSED NOW, after a year of training at White Tiger, than I was when we first joined. I plan to spend as many years training here as my body will let me, and I am looking forward to witnessing my daughters' advancement in training through the years. Loyalty, Perseverance & Respect. If you’re looking for a martial arts gym, there are a number of great reasons to check out White Tiger. White Tiger has the most amazing Masters and Instructors (i. e. high level, experienced martial arts teachers) who want to help you as much as you will let them. I cannot count the number of times they have stayed late after class to help me work on a skill I was having difficulty with or even just to talk with me about a problem I was having that was completely unrelated to martial arts. They legitimately care about their students. The owner is very committed to the gym and the curriculum; I see her there working every time I go in. The other students are very encouraging and welcoming. There are a ton of great classes with a really flexible schedule. If you’re an adult, “adults only” classes are offered in the evenings. There are specialty classes available to students who have achieved a certain rank that give you an opportunity to work on particular areas of the art (e.g. forms, sparring, breaking) or that give you a chance to learn additional skills or art styles (e.g. weapons). There’s also a self defense specific curriculum for women called Lady Tigers, and black belt programs in other martial arts styles, such as hapkido. White Tiger periodically offers seminars (some of which are free) to learn new skills or experience other martial arts styles. Like any athletic endeavor, you get out of tae kwon do what you put into it. If you only show up for class once a week or only care about “getting to black belt” instead of learning all you can along your journey, it may take you longer to see results. If you’re willing to put in the work, both in and out of class, however, training at White Tiger will be a rewarding experience. It definitely was for me. My personal testimonial is that, two years ago, I was tasked with trying to build my confidence (a necessary skill in my line of work). A friend of mine mentioned her experiences studying kung fu, and how it helped her gain confidence in herself. I figured I had nothing to lose, and decided to look into martial arts. After meeting the people at White Tiger and taking a trial lesson, I chose to study tae kwon do there. It is not hyperbole when I say it has been one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Before starting at White Tiger, I did not live what anyone would describe as a “healthy lifestyle.” I had not been to a gym in years, I lived on fast food or the bag of chips I found in my closet, and my doctor had given me serious warnings about how high my cholesterol was getting. As I took classes at White Tiger, I found that I really enjoyed martial arts. Not only did this keep me coming back to the doe jahng (gym) for classes, it also made me want to get better at this sport. I started running (one of the Masters helped me with setting running goals so I could build my endurance and get more out of class), I changed how I ate (using the guidelines in the training manual provided to White Tiger students), I began practicing my skills at home, and I started attending the harder classes to push myself. I’ve been at White Tiger for a little over 18 months now. My cholesterol is the lowest it’s ever been in my life, I’ve lost several inches off my waistline, I'm finally healthy for the first time in years, and I feel great. I’m now doing things athletically that I have not been able to do since I was a teenager. I gained so much more than confidence training at White Tiger. I definitely would recommend martial arts in general and White Tiger in particular to anyone. More...

After much begging, I signed 5-year-old daughter up for a 6-week trial at White Tiger and we had a fantastic experience! After she became very nervous during her first class, one of the black belts took her aside and spent quite a bit of one-on-one time with her, eventually convincing her to get back in line and finish the class. From there, my daughter was able to enjoy the rest of her classes with confidence. I was deeply impressed and touched by the joy all the masters and instructors clearly take in their art and teaching. They’re just terrific with kids---patient, helpful, professional, funny to boot! The facility is beautiful and comfortable. My older daughter (who wasn’t taking TKD) was able to do homework and play video games in the central area or watch with me in the dojang. The trial package was perfect for us, as I had a feeling my daughter was expecting something much different than an actual TKD class, and in the end she elected not to continue. If she or my other girl ever express an interest again, I would absolutely go back to White Tiger.
