When my young son expressed an interest in the martial arts I was thrilled because I have always wanted to learn as well. It was a quick search of local martial arts schools that lead to The Edge . It took no time at all to see the quality of the school as compared to any other I researched. I saw an emphasis on helping people of all ages excel under the unparalleled teaching of Grand Master Thorn and his staff. When we met him we knew we were in the right place. My son gravitated to him immediately and we both were warmly welcomed into the school as new students. As the website states, it is clear Grand Master Thorn has had incredible success in the martial arts and to study under him and his staff is a privilege. It was important to me that we study under someone authentic, successful and dedicated and to his students. Now as we have reached the advanced belts I cant begin to express how grateful I am that my son spends a whole lot of time learning from a teacher and his staff that teach him so much more than the physical discipline of karate. I have two children currently enrolled in The Edge Martial Arts in Stillwater. My oldest started when she was 4 years and is 9 now and my youngest started just before he turned 4 and has been attending for a year now. My kids enjoy going 2-3 times a week. All the instructors are great with the students and want them to be successful students. Both of my kids were quiet and shy when they started, I believe The Edge helped them with their confidence to be more outgoing kids, learn respect towards adults and kids inside and outside of the classroom along with themselves and learned about discipline. Besides learning about respect and discipline they are also learning Martial Arts. I would highly recommend The Edge Martial Arts in Stillwater. More...

Been meaning to review this school for a while (2.5 years), and really should've sooner, because this place has completely changed my life.
I was failing school, stealing from my parents, getting in loads of trouble, using drugs everyday... It was terrible.
Shortly after I got out of treatment (the second one), I wanted to turn my life around. I looked around for a while, and my mom ended up finding this school. We went in, relatively soon after, and I got signed up.. Been there ever since, and it's completely changed my life. I'm getting A's and B's for academics, I'm self motivated and confident.
The teachers and fellow classmates are stellar, constructive, people, and you honestly couldn't find a better bunch of people to work out with! I honestly owe my life to this place.

Karate is a fun way to get in shape, learn important skills, and acquire new and exciting accomplishments. I started Karate with several other karate moms after we caught the excitement and enthusiasm watching our children at The Edge. We were so impressed with how Master Thorn and his team encourage and support people of all ages, shapes and sizes that we decided to give karate a try. Both of my sons and I are now black belts and we continue our training with all of the excitement and passion as the day we started. In the beginning I was hoping my children would discover enjoyment in exercise, discipline, confidence, self defense skills and the many, many benefits of karate and am pleasantly surprised that I have benefited from these attributes just as much.
