Nothing but impressed of Super Kicks in Ashburn. Master Alley has an amazing staff that invites and encourages greatness while having fun at the same time. They are so patient with each child and adult. I wouldn’t go to a different place if they paid me. Although it’s a whole class event, it is very much differentiated to attend to the needs of all of their students. My daughter looks forward to “ninja” class! “Hey Google... how do I give them more than 5 stars?!?” More...

We love Super Kicks!! It is crystal clear that Master Alley and his ENTIRE team love teaching and the art of karate. It is not just something they do, it is who they are. My younger son is in the Little Leaders class, which caters to children ~2yo-~5yo. The way that the staff teaches them allows the children to get used to the expectations in karate. They teach basic, basic movements and strength train in a way that young children can participate and feel a sense of accomplishment. My son looks forward to Saturday morning classes. My older son is now in the leadership program. Since we started at Super Kicks, he has progressed from Little leaders to the basic program and now to the leadership program. Because the students in the basic and leadership programs have various age ranges, their expectations are higher, however still reasonable. My child has been given age appropriate challenges with punches, kicks, grabs, and with weapons, and works very hard to accomplish those challenges. There's never any heavy outside pressure for student excellence or achievement but the staff always has encouraging words or pep talks to share in every class that drives excellence from within the students. There are also lots of opportunities for the kids to carry their "black belt attitude" outside of classes and demonstrate good character traits and citizenship skills at home and in the community. This is a major incentive for my children. Also in class, they regularly strive for excellence in order to earn the red stripe and show the instructors that they are focused and hard-working in class.Like I said, there is no heavy pressure on the kids to participate. In both the Little Leaders and basic classes, I have seen children be too shy or afraid to participate in class and the instructors simply say "that's okay today. The fact that they are watching (or just sitting on the mat) is good enough." Sure enough, little by little the children become more comfortable where they want to participate. If you are looking for a karate studio, I highly, highly recommend Super Kicks Karate. Master Alley and his staff are the absolute best. It is awesome!!! More...

Our son has been going to Super Kicks Karate in Ashburn Va for a year now and loves it. Classes are convenient for us, offering different times throughout the week. Initially my wife and I discussed martial arts class for our son and were not quite in the research process yet. We were at the mall on a weekend, and spotted their kiosk. We were offered a free class for our child initially, to see if the class fits and here we are a year later. Instructors know everyone by name which is reassuring knowing my child is not just a number. The instructors are very passionate and enthusiastic. Has taught our child to be goal oriented, respect others and himself as well as defending himself. Plus, they have an ice cream/pillow fight party twice a year for the kids, parents night out and other events which are fantastic, including adult defense seminars which I have not attended yet. Great balance between discipline and fun. Very glad we found this place. More...

Super kicks is an amazing school. My 6 year old son hasn’t even been there for a year and he’s already a green belt. He’s progressed so well and it’s because the school has great instructors who are knowledgeable and committed to the students they have. I couldn’t be more grateful for this school and I can’t wait to enroll my 3 year old one day. Master Alley and the other instructors are encouraging and they teach a well balance of discipline and fun. I highly recommend for parents to come out and try this place. More...

First, let me tell you they took a chance on my son. He has a health condition, but Master Alley agreed to accept him. They have been helpful in every way. Recently, I attended one of my sons belt graduations. It was a pleasure to see the instructors interact with the kids; furthermore, watch how good Master Alley is with them. I had the fortune of taking a free self-defense class for women here last Saturday. 70 women attended, so the room was full of high energy. The instructors are all black-belts in various martial arts. Mrs. Garcia was the main vocal instructor, but we had Mr. Garcia, Mr. Alley, several other instructors, and expert students as well guiding us and answering questions. In the hour session, they taught us several important moves, such as how to stop an attacker with a knife, how to defend yourself from being grabbed from behind, how to kick and elbow punch an aggressor in front of you. They are now offering weekly Saturday classes at 2:15pm exclusively for women to learn how to defend yourself. I took Karate (Shito ryu) in college for a semester and loved it; I just never found another class of the same discipline where I moved to post graduation and I didn't like the other specialties as much. Martial arts in general teaches you focus and discipline, as well as gets you into great shape physically and mentally. With a course like this, you get to work on training muscle memory, so if attacked, you react quickly and swiftly without much need for thought. Future classes will help students protect themselves against guns, sticks/bats, being held down, etc. Unfortunately for me, I just got out of eight+ weeks of intense physical therapy for a sprained lower back, sciatica and Achilles tendonitis from my other physical activities (it stinks getting older!), and I found my body isn't yet well enough to pursue this at present. I highly recommend the course though, to anyone looking to acquire these important life skills. More...

Super Kicks Ashburn is Awesome!!!! All 3 of my children have been in there summer camp program and now in there after school program and LOVE it! !! That is all they talk about! Even on the weekends that is where they want to be.  Master Alley and his Staff are amazing!! The After school program coordinator, Mrs. Engle is awesome! She really takes the time out on making sure all the childrens needs are met.  She even took it on her own account to email my childrens teacher and is willing to work with her directly to make sure they succeed in school when she found out my children were falling behind in their class!  They are truley a blessing from above!  They really take the stress out, especially for working parents like myself of knowing my children are in a safe, caring environment where the can thrive and grow!  Thank you Super Kicks! We've been attending Super Kicks for about three weeks, and have been incredibly impressed with Master Alley and the other trainers. After our first visit we got a handwritten card mailed to us from Ms. Hernandez thanking us for the visit. After our son's first class, we got a handwritten card delivered from Master Alley, thanking us for having our son in. Every time we come in, Master Alley greets my son and I by name, regardless of how busy it is.Every class has had about 20 - 25 people in it, with three instructors. Master Alley always leads the class, and two others in the leadership group will demonstrate, and walk around reviewing and making improvements to the students' form. The instructors are very hands on, and even when the class size seems large, it never seems crowded on the floor.Every class includes all ages within the a 3 color range of belts (i.e., white to yellow, green to brown, black). People are ordered by height, so that the younger kids work with each-other, and adults work with each-other, making it easy to have people of similar skills and abilities work together. Most classes some of the parents sitting on the side are asked to hold pads for the classmates to hit. I like having the ability to interact with the class, but I know not everyone may feel the same.Master Alley strongly encourages family values and responsibility in addition to self defence and karate form. Every month is a focus, where January was responsibility and March is nutrition and health. Our son has almost overnight begun looking at the foods he eats, and it regularly asking if it's healthy. Younger students also get a monthly chore sheet that parents fill out. At the end of the month, if the kids have done at least 7 of the chores each day, they get a star to add to their uniform. Over time they also get medals and a trophy, which our son is eagerly anticipating. While the school is excellent, there are some areas they could improve. While the floor has space for class, there isn't enough room for the chairs where parents are waiting. There are three rows of padded folding chairs, but they are so close together it's incredibly tight to slide between, and anyone between you and an open seat will have to walk out of the row to make room. I don't know how this could be alleviated though based on the space they have available. The sign-up and pricing process is now very simple and straightforward. This wasn't previously the case, as my original review covered, but they read the reviews and updated the pricing to be a very clear $150 or $175 per month, depending on whether you register for 3 or 6 months, and no sign-up fee. They're now one of the most affordable karate places in Ashburn that I know of, especially with their deal where, after the second person in your family registers, the rest of the family is included in that price. So, for $250 per month you can have 2 or 5 people from your family attend classes. Our son loves coming to class, and wishes he could attend more than twice a week. He is very energetic during the class, during the basic exercises, and while practicing forms. As soon as we get home, and every day until the next class, he's excited to exercise and practice his Karate forms. While we're still in our first 3 months, I fully plan to extend our membership and stay for the next few years.Update: The original review mentioned some issues with their pricing and "selling" process. They've completely addressed this, and let me know what the new process is. I'm very happy with the resolution. More...
