I’ve been meaning to write a review of Tonya and her daughters plus the staff. Since we moved to the PNW I found this place simply by driving by everyday and decided to give it a shot. We have two German shepherds. 5 and 10 years old and they are downright wonderful with them. I’ve read all the negative reviews on here and I’m finding it super hard to believe that tonya or her daughters / staff would subject your dogs to said conditions or blatantly lie about things that went on. They aren’t those kind of people. They give you up front facts and are always accommodating. I will miss them when we move because they treat our dogs as if they were they’re own. Our 7 month old puppy was pretty skittish before we boarded her for 4 nights, but they loved on her and held her and when we picked her up she was SO well behaved! The girls take time with each dog. We brought her back for another 4 day stay, and she walked in and "kissed" the workers. They also called me this week, after seeing a "Found Dog" post on Facebook, because it looked like our girl and they wanted to make sure she was home safe. Above & beyond! Between working with a trainer one-on-one, some sheep herding and support from the Shaggy Shack team, our boy is more confident, happy and social. Each staff person has made a positive impact on turning Corvus around with patience and professionalism and consistency and I appreciate the commitment to the safety of all of the animals . I can't give Shaggy Shack enough praise! My girls LOVE coming to daycare and get so excited when we pull in the parking lot. Clean, well-maintained yards and an awesome group of people who are always happy to see the pups and know them by name. One of my girls, who was never much of a social butterfly, is now a confident dog who plays with everybody. I love how the dogs get to play outside and socialize all day instead of being kenneled.When it's time to get them groomed, the gals let them play around the shop while waiting for their turn to get pampered. My husband and I absolutely love shaggy shack! More importantly our dog does! We have a 15 month old SUPER high energy pure bred border collie (Huey), meaning he NEEDS to get that energy out or he can get frustrated. Huey stays at Shaggy shack probably once every month or two from 2 - 15 days usually, probably has stayed there at least 5 times now. Everytime we get him back he is totally pooped! (Which we absolutely love). When we drop him off he is so excited he can't stand it! He loves the staff and they clearly love him because they are excited there him too! It's so sweet. We love that they love our pup, it makes us feel great about being apart. Lastly, as we have a long haired hard playing dog, we get him groomed before we pick him up. Not only are they always on time, they do an EXCELLENT job. He smells great, his long fur is so glossy and soft, and their hygiene trims are so great! We just can't say enough good things about this place. We highly recommend! Of course it's hard of your pup has separation anxiety and what not, but for outgoing people loving dogs, it's paradise! I trusted Shaggy Shack with my two year old Dutch Shepherd, recently retired from the military working dog kennels at Lackland. I had only had him about two months when he had to spend his first stint back in a kennel situation, and i was nervous that he would revert in his house and obedience training, or that his personality would revert. Nothing could have been further from the truth. He came back CLINGY AND OBSESSED WITH ME. He was eager to resume his obedience training and made huge strides in the first 24 hours after getting back. His personality was exactly the same as when I dropped him off. Even better, he was the star of a couple videos on the page, and I learned he got to interact with another Dutch Shepherd in the area, which is a rarity. When I had to extend one day, it was no issue at all. If anything, they were sad to see him leave. My pup will definitely spend more time here in the future, and I thank Shaggy Shack for taking great care of my pup. More...

My German Shepherd Kai has been going to Shaggy Shack since he was a small puppy. He is almost three years old now. He loves it so much that he starts howling and getting excited as soon as we are close. He has a great time playing and socializing with other dogs and the staff is really good about putting him with “friends” with equal energy. He also gets his monthly bath with the groomers and believe it or not he loves that too. We boarded him last year for a week and he had a great time. I on the other hand had separation anxiety being away from him but the owner Tonya was great at keeping me updated as to how he was doing and even sent me a video of him playing and having a good time. Far exceeds all other facilities Ive checked in the area. The staff are all very kind and my dog loves playing there for daycare. He has been going for a few months now and howls as soon as we hit their road. They go out of their way to make sure he gets his meds and lotion for his sesitive skin. If you have a pet and short on income I strongly recommend shaggy shack right here in spanaway. We rescued a puppy and underestimated how much they chew, we bought bones toys and more, but man this places has saved me a lot of money! ! Not a lot of ppl know about it and it's pretty amazing. Discount gently used items and brand new! But my pup has it all and for what I would've paid for one giant gate I got two extra talls gates two bowls (he's getting bigger everyday) a BUNCH of toys he picked out mostly himself. We have two pitties, one is an escape artist, the other had never been dog friendly, despite much expensive training. The staff at Shaggy Shack is always awesome. They were great at reassuring us both our dogs would be fine in our absence. We've left them for more than a week on a couple occasions, and they always get private yard and play time, and come back to us happy and tuckered out. My dog Brownie loves going to Shaggy Shack, but he has separation anxiety from his mommy. He was in quarantine for 5 months. He had gain some weight from being in Hawaii. He enjoy some dogs. If the dogs bark too much he get anxious, even if he chases other dogs, he love to growl but he is just playing. Many thinks he is aggressive, but he is playful. It's a great place. My dog suffers from separation anxiety. He has destroyed by couch, loveseat, and a chair. I did a lot of research about the local doggie daycare. Shaggy Shack was exactly what I was looking for. They have different areas to match dogs together with the same play level. They slowly introduce him with other dogs so he wasn't overwhelmed. They have indoor and outdoor areas. Some of the outside areas have grass. I didn't want Max to be on cement all day. It was also the least expensive doggie daycare for my needs. What the website does not really cover is how great all of the staff really is. Max loves them all (of course he does have his favorites). I actually have to bring treats with me to bribe him to go home. You can tell by watching the staff that they really love Max in turn. They spoil him rotten with back scratches, walking him to the car, a little goodie bag for Christmas to name just a few. Shaggy Shack Pet Resort and Spa is the best decision that I have made for Max. I cannot say enough good things about Shaggy Shack. I dropped my dogs Allie and Jackson off here for a grooming in May, and received a phone call after dropping them off that Jackson was having breathing issues and they would not be able to perform the bath. They kept me frequently updated on his condition and assured me they were ready to take him to the vet if his condition worsened. When I picked him up, they had trimmed his fur, brushed him, and given him dry shampoo to make him smell good, all for free. I could easily tell that both of my babies were well cared for. A few weeks later Jackson had to have surgery for his breathing issues, and I was still nervous about leaving him alone when I had to go back to work. I took him in for daycare, and they kept a close eye on him all day and were careful to care for him based on his post-op needs. I went there today to shop, I was looking for a crate. They had so many options, different sizes prices, and colors I got a tour of the faculty and all of there merchandise in the buildings they had so many choices on toys, collars, beds, leashes, crates, brushes and harnesses. Anything you could every need for your dog and the prices were amazingly reasonable. I'll definitely come back to shop here. It was so clean too and the dogs in the boarding had so much room to play in. It's perfect for any dog the owners were so nice and showed me everything and answered all of my questions. Great place. I am writing this for my dogs, angel and Maggie who wanted everyone to know what a great place this is. It was so stressful to find new daycare for dogs after using one place for 6 years but a move forced that issue. These folks are a great team. It was a huge relief to me that my husky, after a week long + stay here, ran to greet me then headed right back to the play area. She wanted to stay!! We've used Shaggy Shack several times. Great owners and staff always make us feel very secure about our pups. We have pit bulls, and one is not dog friendly, so it always makes boarding difficult, but Tonya and the staff were incredibly reassuring that both dogs would have a good experience. The dogs got private yard time, together, with staff to play, and came back to us obviously tuckered out, which is hard to do. :) We will continue to bring our fur babies back to them, and will also keep recommending them to friends and family. I have been taking my kid's there for 10 year's My Roti (lady) loved it there, She spent a weekend there and didn't want to leave, Now I have bosco he gets so excited when we turn down the driveway it makes me feel good because you know they are good people or your pet's wouldn't want to go, I think it is the best place to take your pet's even if it's just to play with other dogs, The Staff are great and very compassionate, I am thank full when I was having a tuff time, they were there for me..
