Moore's Karate Modesto - Oakdale Rd

I have been at Moores on Oakdale Road since 2012 when my son decided he wanted to be the karate kid. This was first a way for me to involve myself with an activity with my children and has since evolved to a dedication to the art of Shou Shu. My boys have learned discipline, struggle, success, achievement, honor and respect. The hard work and discipline needed to earn a belt which translates to life, school, sports. The respect of those above and below for all the hard work towards goals. The disappointment of failure and struggle, but strength of character and achievement in its purest form. Martial arts is a journey. It's not given to anyone and it is not easy. As a parent you will watch your children struggle. You yourself will struggle. There is a reason for that. As parents we must let our children struggle and find a way to succeed without us. As practitioners we must find our own way through struggle and show our children to there is a way. You must find you're own way. There is a process to follow, but there is a feeling of utmost achievement and pride of attaining belief in self and abilities that is indescribable. Martial arts is different for everyone. No story will be the same, as everyone's journey is their own. What I can say is you won't be disappointed in your martial arts experience at Moores on Oakdale Road. We have all started as white belts and sought self improvement. All of the instructors want you to succeed and find your story and journey. They will assist you through success and struggle. We are a family and are waiting for you to join! When I fisrt came to Moore's Karate for my free week to see if I would like it I was of course nervous and scared. My friend and I started at the same time and it made it easier but I remember standing on the carpet in front of that big long mirror looking at myself and trying to hide behind my friend because I didnt like what I saw in the mirror. Im over weight and I was so self-conscience about my weight. I remember the first time Shifu Flores told me to tuck in my shirt. I almost cried, I held it in but i was embarrassed. One day I went to Dashifu and asked if I had to tuck in my shirt and he said "yes, eventually you will have to, not right now but one day you will tuck it in and wont even realize that you did it, so for now you don't have to." I cried, I told him how self-conscience I was about my weight and he understood, hes so kind and understanding. He has a big heart. Not too long after that I was tucking in. Im still bery self-conscience but what the heck...

I remember one day I was sitting, waiting for group to start and watching the other students practice and thinking to myself no way can I do that. There's no way I can get out there in front of everyone and do that. A couple of times I thought about quitting because I was doubting myself, thinking no way can do this but Three amd half years later, Cobra belt and I'm doing the damn thing. Every single person at Moore's has been kind, encouraging, positive, and uplifting. Moore's Karate is the place to be if you wanma learn self-defense. Although I am still self conscience about weight I love doing Shou Shu. DON'T EVER LET ANYONE OR ANYTHING HOLD YOU BACK! NOT EVEN YOUR OWN NEGATIVE THOUGHTS. More...

This place is amazing!!! They are so good with kids. My son has had a lot more confidence he focuses more in school and does what he's supposed to. If it wasn't for Moores Karate my son would probably be getting into a lot more trouble at school and he would not be focusing. More...

I have been at moores karate for 33 years and have made some life long friends I can say with all honesty it was the best decision of my life to walk threw that door and stay with it this long I wouldn’t be where I am today with out the confidence they have instilled in me in the drive and determination to do better thank you my Moores family

This is an amazing place that inspires children and adults to gain self-respect, confidence, and a skill level that most will never have.
