Melissa's private home boarding is incredible. It was our first time trying any pet sitting service and we are so glad we found her through Nextdoor. From the first phone call, Melissa made my husband and I feel completely at ease, and when she came to our home to meet our pup, Holly, we knew right away our girl would be in good hands. We've gone on 2 trips now and Melissa always made sure to keep me updated with plenty of photos and texts.  During our first trip, we extended a day and Melissa was able to accommodate us no problem.  She was also able to help train my pup with some better meal time habits (she's a very picky eater). Holly always has a ton of fun and other pups to play with during her sleepovers. She receives loads of attention and love from Melissa and her team. We have been using Melissa's Mutt Hutt for dog walking and boarding for our dogs for several years now. Melissa is fantastic. She is caring, so knowledgeable, extremely helpful, attentive and always goes out of her way to be sure our dogs are happy and well taken care of. She is genuinely super passionate about dogs. We first met Melissa after adopting our 2nd dog with very different behavior issues than our 1st. She was so helpful with advice and suggestions. Very very long overdue review. All around I have found this business to be just lovely to work with. No matter the request it's always met with enthusiasm and promptness. They are incredibly professional whether they are in your home or your best friend with at one of their homes. Whether it's a quick over night or two week trips, I even had an instance where we got stuck in northern CA and I texted them asking if they could come by and do a last minute walk and feed Lucy, my request was met with the fastest "no problem, we gotcha!"  I have never worried about our baby being in the best loving hands. I can't say enough great things about Melissa's Mutt Hutt. I moved to California a year ago, and have had nothing short of an incredible experience using her services. My job sometimes requires very LAST minute changes and she has ALWAYS been able to accommodate. Olive, My 4.5 year old golden retriever loves everyone who walks her and spends time with her in our home. I especially wanted the 1 on 1 time and I've had to use their boarding services as well. Being from the east coast we left olive with Brenda for a week over the holidays, and we felt so comfortable, we received daily pictures and updates to inform us on how she was doing. Melissa runs an incredible business.   She is detail oriented, professional, and most importantly loves dogs. My dog is my best friend in the world and I trust Melissa and her team to take care of him. <br><br>Since they started walking him, I've definitely noticed he is more calm and loving when I get home from work. Our two dogs are very difficult. They are both rescues off the street. One is a terrier and the other is a chihuahua with an attitude. Neither of them gets along with other dogs, or people for that matter. In the past, we used two other dog walking services. And while the people in these services were kind, they were never able to connect with our dogs. Melissa and Sarah connected immediately with our two boys. They had them out and walking with one of Melissa’s dogs on the first walk. A miracle. Sarah took the time to let our dogs become comfortable with her and she has become a second mom to these guys, especially Kimba, our high strung chihuahua. In addition, Melissa has been wonderful with advice and help in dealing with our pets. My wife and I have not taken any vacations--away from the pets--because no one can deal with our dogs. I am so happy I called Melissa's Mutt Hutt to care for my senior dogs when I had a last minute trip recently. I am crazy protective and weird about my dogs. . who are all over the age of 12. Not only did she have someone to stay with them in my home on very short notice, she helped me with the pricing and made me feel very comfortable. And they also provided reliable and dependable service to dogs and guests of the hotels where I worked. Thanks to Melissa's Mutt Hutt we know our corgis are being well-taken care of during the day and we know they are in good hands.  We've been using their private dog walking service since we got our corgi puppy (now two!) and we have watched them grow up to be happy, healthy, and confident dogs.  We've interacted with several dog walkers and every one of them are professional, knowledgeable, attentive, and wonderful caretakers of our dogs.  Melissa does a really great job training all of her associates and making sure they know their client's needs.  They keep a daily log after each walk and they also send us pictures and texts for more details.  They are dependable and I always feel like I can count on them to follow through on their tasks and making any changes to their normal routine.  I'm glad we found Melissa's Mutt Hutt.  You know the saying "it takes a village to raise a child" well sure enough it applies to your furry children too =). I was disappointed as I learned after my vacation that my dog had been anxious during his stay with one of Melissa's associates.  After a full discussion with Melissa, I am revising my review to clarify that. besides me not getting the real time information about my dog's anxiety so I could perhaps address it, Melissa and her associate did everything and more to make his stay a pleasant one and her intent in not mentioning it while I was gone was honestly not to bother/worry me while I was vacationing.  I would recommend her services as my dog received good care and attention.  Just clearly communicate when you wish to be contacted. I used Melissa's dog walking services for all out two months. I prepaid for both months.  She was unable to provide the service to my dogs the last five days and I still have not received my refund. First she said it would be refunded to my credit card, then after I had to track her down, she said she had mailed a refund check to me. Have not received eived that. DON'T USE HER SERVICES. Melissa took care of my dog, Wrigley, over the holidays for 10 days. I was worried because Wrigley has EXTREME skin allergies and requires meds and other services. Melissa was not only up for the task, she went above and beyond to make sure Wrigley didn't have an outbreak. Wrigley is 8, and I have never been able to find someone who can take care of her the way I do. Now I can rest easy the next time I travel!<br><br>Also, Melissa picked Wrigley up and dropped her off. I've used Melissa's services twice.  Once with a dog that I was fostering and a most recently with a dog I adopted.  My pup was found wandering the streets of South Central Los Angeles.  Her fur was matted and she was in bad shape.  When I first met my pup she was sweetly sleeping in the rescue where 20 or so amazing dogs were running around.  My first couple days home with her were fantastic and unreal (no separation issues, great with people and dogs), however after a bit I noticed that she would charge after dogs and start aggressively barking at them.  I panicked and called Melissa who met with us for three hours.  She suggested that we take our dogs (both hers and mine) out together to help my girl learn to be a member of a pack.  Mind you-Melissa is a spitfire on speed so wear comfortable shoes because both you and your animal will be working!  Throughout our walk, Melissa asked questions, shared her vast knowledge of animal psychology, bravely went up to strangers on the street to show me numerous times how to introduce my pet safely, and served as my personal therapist.  She tells it like it is and her number one priority is ensuring animals and their humans have the best life possible.  After our walk she hand wrote some notes, then the next day emailed some follow up notes as well.  I feel comfortable asking her questions any time of day and I even texted her in a complete panic when the dog I was fostering ingested a bag of chocolate chips! <br><br>Melissa is incredible and clearly has a passion and drive for what she does.  I will be using her company A LOT in the future and she is the first person I recommend for animal lovers. Melissa's Mutt Hutt takes care of a number of my friend's animals in Downtown and West LA. I recently referred them for a pet sit for some friends in Malibu. Melissa met with them and assigned a member of her staff to do a pet sit. During the long dog sit (about 3 weeks) one of the dogs got sick and Melissa cut her vacation short, came to the home and took over the job as she suspected one of the dogs was very ill. She took the dog to 3 vets and it turned out the dog had cancer. She set up the entire treatment plan and accompanied the dog to get treatment, coordinating with my friend the entire time, and did not even charge extra. It was clear that this was more than a job for her and that she truly cares for animals, giving around the clock attention...she also sent daily pics of the dogs and updates to the owners. More...

I recently adopted a one year old boxer/ridgeback mix from Lovejoy Rescue in Redondo Beach. (I highly recommend them as well. ) Dexter is very energetic and a bit erratic as you can imagine. After a couple interviews with local dog walkers, I felt the right connection with Melissa. She met Dexter and knew right away the kind of care she could help provide for all of us. She is experienced and her staff are experienced in dog related behavioral issues. Melissa took the time to match the dog walker to the needs of our particular dog so there is a strong bond between the two. They are dependable and trustworthy. Melissa and her staff - carefully recruited, drug and background checked... - have cared for my two sensitive, neurotic Frenchies with extreme digestive and incontinence issues for the past eight years.  They do not want to come home after a stay with Melissa.  Within the span of an hour, she will have your pet's personality generally pinned down and after a single visit she knows them like they were her own. Her personal passion is rescue animals but she will not judge you if you have purebred dogs. She is one of those people who finds an animal's ideosyncrasies charming.  Have you every seen someone still smiling after being hit in the face with a French Bulldog fart?  Neither had I until I met Melissa - and she has had house guests leave ahead of schedule while she was boarding my dogs. Bottom line, Mutt Hutt has changed my life.  Melissa's professionalism, warmth, and great attention to detail has been wonderful. <br>I no longer have to worry if my baby is getting his special needs met when I'm away (he needs painkillers every 12 hours for his arthritis) or if he's getting enough attention while I'm working long hours.  I no longer have to impose on friends to doggie sit when I take a spontaneous vacation.  Melissa and a couple of her Mutt Hutters have become like extended family members to us over the past year.  My dog is so in love with Melissa, she's even taught him some tricks that I could never get him to do before!<br>After I first contacted Melissa, she came to my house and we had a meeting so I could communicate all of Marty's needs.  She was so knowledgable that I was blown away, sharing so many facts about the pug breed that I wasn't even aware of.  I began getting regular walks and sits, when I would come home from work I could tell that Marty's mood was even better.  This part I particularly adore: Mutt Hutt provides a notebook to keep in your house in which the walker writes about the details of each walk or sit.  Coming home to read those notes brightens my day. :) And overall it adds to Marty's quality of life to have great one on one care.  When I go out of town I feel good knowing that Marty gets to cuddle up in a Mutt Hutter's bed at night, and that he's getting all his meds on time.  They even send me picture updates to my phone so I can see what Marty is up to.  So happy I found these guys! Melissa and her team at the Mutt Hutt are truly amazing people and have taken the utmost care of my bulldog since we moved to the South Bay area.  Melissa and her team are not only dependable and trustworthy, but they have also taken a genuine interest in the health and happiness of my dear Beatrice.  We feel completely comfortable giving Melissa and her Mutt Hutters access to our home, and come home to find the sweetest notes about what "B" was up to while we were away. I especially like that the Mutt Hutt does only individual walks. Having lived in NYC for years, it was all too common to see a walker with at least a few dogs in tow, which always made me nervous.  The individual attention is not only great for the dog, but also keeps my mind at ease that no issues are going to arise between B and another dog in the pack. It means that the Mutt Hutt walks are a little more expensive than some of the other, mass walking services, but well worth it in my opinion.<br><br>My sweet bulldog had a medical emergency in the middle of the night a few months ago, and Melissa was incredibly helpful not only with what to do (we didn't have a local vet at the time, so I called her first), but also in directing us to the nearest (and most reputable) emergency hospital in the area.  She also was kind enough to come to our home the next day to personally check-in on B and send me reports on her behavior as I had to go back to work the next day.   <br><br>I've been very happy with the service and would be happy to recommend the Mutt Hutt to anyone in the area.  Our experience has been truly wonderful, and I cannot say enough good things about the company.
