I’ve been so impressed with the way the coaches interact with my son, who just turned 5, and all of the other children. Their teaching is really geared towards what is developmentally appropriate for this age and they keep it fun while emphasizing discipline, self-control and good life choices. It’s a wonderful influence on our son. I couldn’t be happier. More...

Marin MMA will provide you with all the tools you need to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fully and it has a great group of training partners. There is not a lot of ego with the people who practice there, so you can practice and learn in a safe environment. Like all of the Jiu Jitsu schools in Marin its a decent financial commitment, but for many people, Jiu Jitsu becomes a passion and with commitment you will find value. The kickboxing classes run a little early for my schedule, but some of the regulars look very competent. More...

This is a great training center! I feel like i'm part of a Family/Team at Marin MMA. My initial fear before joining a MMA training center was that it would be full of macho egotistical meatheads. Thankfully, I did not find that here. The instructors and students are all great, especially the Professor who is a true role model with a passion for sharing his extensive knowledge in Martial Arts. After my first free kickboxing training session, I knew that this was the place for me! Training in Muay Thai - Boxing - Kickboxing here has really helped me refocus! If you looking for a fun and exciting workout along with great self defense techniques, drop by and you'll be impressed!I've been training at Marin MMA for 3 months now and it has renewed my love of martial arts, health, and personal growth. I didn't realize that this was what I was missing in my life. My training at M-MMA has given me a greater drive that goes beyond weight loss, with new life goals and a newfound passion for healthy positive lifestyle. Joining Miko's team has been the best decision I've made as an adult. I can't wait to take my next step and start learning Jiu Jitsu from the best who was trained by- Ralph Gracie! I look forward to the next decade training here, winning gold medals, carrying on the knowledge and skills of Miko Riggs BJJ! More...

I have been a member of Marin MMA for four years and it is one of the best martial arts studios I have ever been to. The people there are so kind and welcoming; the instructors and staff are like a second family to me. Mikyo Riggs is wise beyond his years and I am truly honored to be his student. I look forward to coming back from college and training on the mat whenever life gives me the opportunity. The lessons that I have learned and the people whom I have met—I know—I will never forget. If you ever get the chance to come down to Marin MMA, and check it out for yourself, you won't regret it. It is a lovely place and a great community. More...

This piace is phenomenal. My son can't wait to go to his class five days a week and he complains that it does not have one on Friday too. Coach Andrew and coach Tim are amazing with their kids and Mikyo runs a tight ship. More...

Marin MMA is the most amazing Mixed Martial Arts school I've ever been too.I started training Brazilian Jiujiutsu July 2013. A friend of mine took me to the school and I fell in love with it. I started and got the Bjj fever. I'm training every day. Marin MMA changed my life. Not just do I feel much fitter and lost 17 pounds since I started but I also changed my way of living and eating in a much more positiv and confident way. The only thing I gained is friendship, trust, respect, confidence and some the most amazing knowledge of Brazilian Jiujiutsu..Professor Mikyo Riggs is the best Professor you could wish for.He is 100% technique and his classes are always fun and full of great moves and taught with respect and knowledge. If you are a competitior, he gets you ready to be a champion or if you are just doing BJJ as a hobby, no problem, he has the best classes to fullfill your needs. He sees talent in every single one of his students. And thats what you can feel and see. An awesome professor with a big heart and impressive knowledge. It was an honor to see him getting his second degree on his blackbelt when we had a 2 hour seminar with Ralph Gracie his Professor. The school has plenty of classes for everyones needs. At noon they got BJJ for every level taught by Blackbelt Laith, Blackbelt Brigette, Brownbelt Jeremy and Brownbelt Jason.Everyone of them is one perfection in its own. Their classes are fantastic and you enjoy every minute of it and get out of class with so much more than with what you came in 1,5 h before. After Noon class they got great Kids Classes for every age.In the evening they got kickboxing, Bjj Beginner Class and Bjj Advanced.Every single teammate there is helping you out and gives you the feeling of being a part of the family. Great people, an amazing Professor.... Marin MMA.. The best MMA Dojo I've ever been too! More...

I would like to preface my critical review with saying that Mikyo Riggs is a great teacher and is not the reason for the flaws of Marin MMA. I have learned much under his tutelage. The major problem with Marin MMA is that it fosters an ultra competitive environment, especially among the hotshot, insecure bully types among the lower ranks who feel the need to assert their dominance over everyone. This creates an environment that alienates newer students, especially hobbyists and casual practitioners (who are usually a majority client base), and also creates an environment that is disruptive to learning. Almost all of the higher ranks are relatively nice guys, but conversely, I would ballpark that almost half of the white belts are fairly difficult to get along with. I cant count the number of times a fellow white belt has insulted my form and barked orders at me to correct it. Helping me out would be no problem, but most of these guys aren't really interested in giving advice and really just want to demonstrate their superiority. Besides, half of them are actually no better than me. Why don't you just let me work the drill and I'll figure things out in my own time.Fellow white belts (and some blue) also often times feel the need to rush techniques and apply a lot of force to show their command of the art(?) but all this really does is promote bad habits and makes the learning process difficult. They also tend to go 100% in rolling, all the time. Instead of concentrate on technique and taking it easy when rolling, most people I roll with come at me like we are competing in the Mundials. I get elbows digging into my face and jaw, burns across my face from muscled chokes and collar grabs, etc. This isn't inherently a problem, I have learned a lot about being a good BJJer from fending off these attacks, but I also haven't had many opportunities to practice good technique while rolling. Not all matches need to be hardcore to employ resistance and model aliveness training. I have read material by many top BJJ instructors that say going 100% in sparring matches can actually impair development, especially in the technical aspects of the art. Basically, the attitude of the newcomers in the class tends to be pretty poor, which is probably common in MMA gyms, but many other gyms find ways of dealing with this by removing or policing unsavory characters. The only thing that keeps me going back is my love of the martial arts, fitness, and the fact that I paid 200$ per month to go there. At least there is quality instruction and ample opportunities to help one improve. More...

Hands Down The Best Martial Arts School in Marin! I have been training martial arts my whole life. I hold a black belt in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu). I have to say I was really really impressed with this school, the instructors, and the level of instruction they have.I got to catch the last haft of one of their kids martial arts class too! It was superb. I could really tell the kids loved the class, they were attentive and all had really good technique. If you want to train some BJJ or MMA i highly suggest checking this place out. I ve been at MarinMMA for about six months and my only regret is that I did not join sooner. Very talented instructors, great Mixture of stand up and grappling classes, and an overall fantastic workout. I did a lot of research before deciding which school to join and there is no doubt that they are not only the best at what they do, but also operate as a very tight-knit family environment! More...
