LED Lions are the BOMB!Super late review, but finally getting to this. After searching through the reviews on yelp we settled with Lion Dance Me and worked with Norman. Norman is great with communication and was professional and on point with everything. We found out that Lion Dance Me is comprised of local kids learning the art of lion dancing after school - very cool. On the auspicious date of 08/18/18, my wife and I were married in the Presidio, and we had the good fortune to book Lion Dance Me for the occasion. As our reception venue was a few minutes walk from our ceremony location, we were looking for a lion dance group that would be willing and able to lead our guests there and finish with a performance. Norman was fantastic to work with and willing and able to do the job. After seeing some very impressive samples of their work, we knew that Lion Dance Me was the right choice for us!On the day of our wedding, our guests were surprised and amazed by Lion Dance Me's performance. Lion Dance Me managed to wow even our hardened Chinese wedding guests who have seen a million lion dances. Norman and his team are very professional, they showed up way ahead of performance time, and really gave us a show. We had 5 lions and each of the lions were well kept and in beautiful condition (no shaggy lions here!). The LED lions were the biggest hits of the night and our family and friends could not stop talking about how cool they were. Great performance to have at a wedding, banquet, or any celebration! Norman and his LDM team did a spectacular performance for my daughter's  day Red Egg and Ginger party. They were punctual and very friendly with our little children guests. Wow! Just truly amazing... I was fortunate enough to catch this group in Redding, CA this past weekend and I've never seen anything lion or dragon dance like this before. This group is filled with talent and so skillful. It was one hour of jam packed entertainment with a professional looking presentation. They performed the art of the lion dance and then gave it a twist that incorporate a well choreographed soundtrack to Eye of the Tiger. They even had nice martial arts demo. The second part of the show they turned down all the lights and came out with a brightly lit LED lion that just looked beautiful, like a mosquito's attraction to light, which performed a cutie and animated drunken lion. When the lion got drunk, the LED lights flashed some really cool patterns. Next they came out with a beautiful green dragon and started doing a lot of flash maneuvers and jumps that I can't even explain. It needs to be seen. The finale had 2 lions standing on top of these tall platforms jumping and flying from these plates, doing some really highly acrobatic moves. We hired Norman and his team of Lion dancers for our wedding and it made the wedding extra memorable.  Let's start out by laying out three main topics: Professionalism, Entertainment value, Cherry on top.  A) Norman and his very well trained lion dancers were courteous, punctual, and very pleasant to work with.  On our wedding we had hired them to perform at 7pm.  They were there on time and ready to go.  We.... were not.  We ran an hour behind our schedule and asked if they could wait 1/2 an hour.  A half an hour wait did not seem long for us as we were so busy; however, I understand when there is a performance at hand it's very annoying for the team to have to wait.  We very, very much appreciate the fact that they did - and on top of that, no fuss.  B) When the lion dancers and drum players were ready to perform they exploded onto the dance floor.  Children and adults alike were in awe.  No one saw it coming and that was part of the beauty of it.  But, to give credit where it is due, the lion dancers were extremely acrobatic, on point, and performed exactly on cue with the music.  They didn't miss a beat.  Avicii's Levels and Eye of the tiger were used that night.  Again they were flawless.C) The service and entertainment did not stop there.  In the middle of the performance the lions surprised us when the lights were dimmed and the LEDs on the lions lit the night up.  It was a such a spectacular sight to see when all the guests eyes were locked and focused on the show.  Furthermore, even though they stayed later than planned Norman still asked us if we needed the lion dancers to help kickstart the party by having the dancers come out and dance with us.  Anyone who has been to a wedding knows there's always that awkward 5-10 minutes where there is a small handful of people on the dance floor before guests start slowly (sometimes reluctantly) trickling in.  Not this time - with the lion dancers help, we converted the dance floor to its maximum capacity within a minute or 2 at most.  The most surprising thing about this?  Well, all this was coordinated with only several emails.  Norman and his team knew what we were looking for from the start; perhaps even before we knew what we wanted ourselves!We want to thank Norman and his team as they did phenomenally!  Let's say this.  If we ever got married again - we would love to have his team again! My wife and I worked with Norman to have his troop perform the Bench and Wine routine for our wedding.  Norman quickly responds to questions, positive, and extremely flexible!  Having seen lion dance performances my whole life, this performance was truly the best.  I only spoke and emailed with Norman prior to our wedding.  On the day of my wedding Norman and his troop showed up early, kept out of sight, and found me to introduce himself to me.  I had made a request that Norman grab my nephews during he part where we hand out red envelopes to the Lion, Norman discreetly grabbed them when it was time.  The performers did such a great job that our guest are still telling us how much they enjoyed them.  Norman also easily worked with my coordinator and D.J on the performers entrance.  I highly recommend working with Norman to use Lion Dance Me/YKM for your events!  You will get more than what you pay for! I have only great things to say about Norman and his talented team at Lion Dance Me. I hired them for my wedding banquet in October and it was the highlight of the night! Words cannot describe the appreciation I have for Lion Dance Me. They are a group of talented, organized, and responsive people that not only knows how to entertain but how to make customers happy. I was in charge of planning our office's grand opening and was given very late notice to help find lion dancers. After looking on Yelp, I had found this company and couldn't be more glad I did. Norman, the owner, was extremely responsive to my inquiry and took our appointment without further questions. On the day of the event, the lion dancers were punctual and gave a performance even better than what I had expected. Thank you Lion Dance Me for performing at our recent wedding. Norman was great to correspond with and even worked to get us the performance at the exact time in our schedule of the day, despite it being a very popular date. The team that performed (we had them do the drunken lion dance) was super professional--we had requested that they try to hide themselves (which was difficult to do given the layout of our wedding venue) and they were so successful that it ended up being a great surprise to everyone when they made their entrance. We also were in a space with relatively low (10 ft) ceilings, and they were able to manage the noise level so it was comfortable for our guests. This was actually the element of our wedding that we received the most compliments on after the event (and some of the kids were still talking about it weeks later!). Great job, highly recommend! I can't thank LionDanceMe enough for the fantastic performance they did at my wedding, My Chinese & non-Chinese guests were all wowed, even those who have seen dozens of lion dances. The performance didn't end with the lion dancing - the lions continued dancing with us as the DJ opened the dancing for guests, which was a great way to get people on the dance floor. The Lion Dance Me performers were a hit at my recent wedding celebration in San Francisco.  Keeping it a secret from everyone, they stealthily came without anyone noticing and at exactly the right moment (which I had planned and went off perfectly) emerged with a bang and even scared some guests, not to mention all the evil spirits that might have been around.  We had two lions that performed their bench routine.  They were tight and coordinated and interacted very well with our guests, most of which had never seen a lion dance before, at least not this close and personal.  Doing several acrobatic lifts and tricks, their performance was dynamic and kept everyone's attention.  Some other performances I've seen can get a little old with the performers just shaking the head around, but this performance was precise and their movements were martial art. Everyone couldn't stop talking about it after the performance and are still mentioning how great it was!  Norman, the lead contact and founder of the company was great to work with.  He was very prompt in his communication and took care to understand what I was looking for.  With so many details in planning our wedding, it was a pleasure to work with a company that is well organized and on top of their game.  I would recommend his troop to everyone and will definitely seek them out again if the occasion ever arrises.  Book them for your next event! Having Chinese lion dances at my wedding was a huge success! I wanted to surprise my guests by having a performance, and it's not like I took the time to learn salsa and showcase my talents or anything. Instead, I took the easy way out and hired Lion Dance Me! And it was a great idea! The performance was actually a gift to my parents, as a thank you for all they have done for me, and I wanted to add a bit of my culture to my bi-racial wedding. I must admit that some of my Chinese guests were like, "What is this? Chinese lion dancers at a wedding? It's not Chinese New Year!" But after the performance, one of my uncles came up to me and told me my wedding was much better than his own son's. Score one for me and Lion Dance Me!Norman, the owner,  is also really easy to work with. I even hired him and his team as my videographers! I'll need to write a separate review for that later on. Six months before my wedding, I decided to surprise my family and guests with lion dancers.  Since I wasn't doing a Chinese tea ceremony, I thought this would be the next best thing.  Let's just say that my guests and family are still talking about it and my wedding was 3 weeks ago on 9/27/14 in Pleasanton, CA.  I had the bench routine with drunken lion dance plus 2 lions with LED lights.  This was my first time seeing LED lions and it definitely lit up the room!  All of my guests were amazed since they had never seen them before either.  According to my dad, who is highly critical, said this was the best performance he had ever seen.  They were athletic, entertaining, and the costumes were clean and in pristine condition.  I have to thank Norman for putting such a great show on my wedding day.  It was the highlight of my wedding and people are still raving about how much fun and entertaining it was.  I would highly recommend Lion Dance Me for your event.  Norman was great at communicating both by e-mail and phone.  He called the week of the wedding to confirm everything and review all the details.  My wedding timeline was quite busy with lots of events lined up for the night and we were able to keep everything on schedule as they were punctual and arrived right on time.  Thanks again Lion Dance Me for a great performance.  I couldn't have been happier! Norman is extremely friendly and easy to talk to, and we're so glad we hired Lion Dance Me for our wedding! We went with the LED lions and boy was it a hit with our guests! Everybody kept telling us that they have never seen LED lion dancers before (and neither have I until LDM), and it was worth every penny. I would highly recommend hiring Lion Dance Me! Norman returned my call quickly and worked with me to understand my vision for our wedding. I loved lion dancing when I was growing up, because it reminded me of celebrations and happy times. So at my wedding, I wanted it to be surprise for our with a blast to the past and they did not disappoint. I called a few other places - one was unresponsive and one was responsive, but overall I was really impressed with Norman's passion for what they do. This troupe just performed at my daughter's Chinese wedding banquet this past Sat.They gave an awesome performance which included a lot of acrobatic type moves. All the guests were simply blown away by their performance, and I'm talking about Chinese guests who have seen so many lion dance performances since they were little kids! So you've decided to include a lion dance at your wedding, but looking for a lion dance studio to hire can be intimidating for any of the following reasons: 1. your chinese speaking skills at best are limited to ordering only your favorite dim sum or its interlaced with English on an every other word basis so getting your wedding details across is a challenge; 2. the lion dance studio rep's english skills are conversely limited to "OK" in response to your every question about their availability, cost, and number of lion dancers your wedding requires; 3.the lion dance studio has no YELP status at all (C'mon! Even Good Mong Kok Bakery on Stockton has 4-stars & over 700 YELP reviews).Thankfully, LionDanceMe (LDM) IS on YELP and by the looks of it, has been receiving rave reviews, including the one I am about to add which BTW is waaaaay overdue since my wedding was awhile ago!Anyhow, I chose LDM for lots of reasons but here are the highlights: they are reputable (ahem... America's Got Talent Season 7, people!!), I didn't need my mom or best friend around to translate a single thing (Norman is proficiently bilingual), Norman is super easy to work with (my wedding coordinators had no issues getting in touch with him to finalize the performance schedule), and Norman knows his sh*t (he's been lion dancing since he was kid so with his experience, he assured me that my reception venue's low ceilings would not impede their amazing acrobatics - LDM totally delivered on that one). Looking back, what I appreciated most about Norman and LDM is how he prepped us for what WE needed to do during their performance (yeeesss, there is a tiny level of  bride & groom participation), so the hubs and I didn't look like two jackasses at our own party. It's my pleasure writing a review for Lion Dance Me!I rarely write reviews and wanted to share my wonderful experience with all of you.  I got married about a week ago and had six months to plan my wedding.  After contacting over five different Lion dance troupes in the Bay Area, I stumbled upon LDM randomly on  Yelp.  I will say, it was a painful experience contacting other Lion Dance troupes because many were  unresponsive, had inconsistent communication, limited/dated Lion costumes and misleading contact information.All changed when I contacted Norman @LDM.  I contacted him in January, the peak of Chinese New Year preparation. He was extremely responsive via email and phone as needed.  Over the course of 4 months, we stayed in contact and he kept me up to date on pricing, video samples, availability, you name it.  I had a muticultural wedding (My husband is French and I'm Chinese) and I wanted to surprise my parents/guests with a traditional lion dance.  I selected LDM because they were exceptional in all areas below:CREATIVITY-First LED lion, something that's fresh, new and entertaining. -Emotive color changing functions on the LED lion really gave the lion personality. what better way to celebrate my july 2013 western-style wedding but also commemorate my chinese heritage? yup, lion dancing! hired Lion Dance Me. best decision ever! how often do i ever give out full stars for anything? never. i can't say i'm the most meticulous person per-say. maybe a persnickety one (lol). so how did i end up giving Lion Dance Me, a lion dancing company, a full on 5-star rating? ~ let's break it down ~TALENT:yes, indeed they got it. lots of it. heard of "america's got talent"? they were on it and even made it to the finals. but that isn't the reason we hired them. it's really because they are truly talented on all levels. their routines are ridiculous. RELIABILITY:planning a wedding is no easy task. the last thing you want from a vendor is lack of communication or worse, never replying. with norman, founder and creator of Lion Dance Me, he never had me worried for a split second. extremely punctual and insanely responsive at all times. from emails to calls to texts. he always made sure i was well taken care of, even though he had 10 other weddings simultaneously. i never felt so "VIP'ed" by any vendor. CREATIVE:their routines are not your ordinary lion dances you might see on the streets of chinatown during a festival, or at a grand opening of a store. they do that, and much much more. these talented folks came in to the venue equipped with heavy duty poles and jumping and dancing ferociously while maintaining the dignity of what lion dancing is all about. meaning, they didn't dance and jump like crazy maniacs with some lion outfits. they were all rhythmical, classy and oh so entertaining.  most of our guests had their jaws dropped to the floor. and they're still raving about it. MUSICALLY-INCLINED:you won't just hear the drums being played while the lion dancing is going on, but they also incorporate different musics to fit different routines. that is such a breath of fresh air. don't get me wrong, the sounds of the beating drums are great, but to be surprised with current music being played while they are performing makes you that much more hypnotized by their talent!AFFORDABLE:yes they are. if you want to infuse your wedding/event with some major talent and endless entertainment, hiring them would be my best advice. you will and shall be satisfied knowing they are worth every penny. INNOVATIVE:i must have saved the best reason for last. my husband and i were so lucky to be the first couple to receive the first ever LED illuminating "drunken lion dance" routine Lion Dance Me put together! norman didn't tell me anything about this special performance towards the end of the night. he just came up to me, pulled me aside and asked me to sit down. he knows i love surprises. and that, was the best surprise i could've asked for at my own wedding! they were so clever to think of putting LED lights onto the lion, creating the illuminating effect when the lion dances. it was also a first-time ever performance of the drunken lion dance. Lion Dance Me was superb!!!!  Yes they charged a little more, but were definitely worth it.  Here's why:1) It was nice that the MC was able to say, "From America's Got Talent, Lion Dance Me! " 2) Their routine was awesome!!! We got so many compliments from our guests that the Lion Dance was the BEST they have ever seen. 3) Norman is very responsive.  We decided three weeks before the wedding to incorporate a Lion Dance into our program, and they came through with flying colors (literally).  Also, Norman texts!!! It's so great to find a group that text messages!4) They added different music to the routine that was more "contemporary" (as some guests described).  This caught everyone by surprised, and our guests LOVED it!5) The lions were maintained very well.  They weren't used, abused, or dirty.  It was very much appreciated. We would recommend Lion Dance Me to anyone out there who wants a lion dance.  It's not only a Chinese wedding tradition, but an entertainment source too.  Our guests were very entertained.  Now, if only I can find a recording of it somewhere, as I sat behind the lion dance the whole time, meaning I only saw the lion's rear end.
