So CMBJJ is like my second family, and therefore this review may be a little biased. However, it is an honest report and stems from the point of view of a longtime practitioner of this incredible martial art. We are a Brazilian jiu jitsu school. If you want to learn BJJ, practice Muay Thai (w/o live sparring) or maybe join an MMA squad and actually try to get a fight, come on in and try a few classes, meet some of the other students and coaches, and decide for yourself what you think about the school. You can get your first couple classes free!PLEASE NOTE that this is not a fitness gym only, this is a school teaching martial arts. Although Muay Thai can be trained without live sparring, BJJ is often trained, in part, with live training with opponents who are actively trying to get to a dominant position where they can apply a submission. It is not a gale of “party cake” and is very physically strenuous at times! BJJ is one of the only martial arts where you can practice at 100% in relative safety. When you’re new at BJJ, there is a good chance that you may get caught in a submission. This is 100% normal if you decide to make BJJ a regular activity! If you stick it out, you will get tapped MANY times before you start to get the hang of it. There is a great saying...”sometimes you’re the hammer...and sometime you’re the nail.” Get over yourself if you get beat and have to tap, learn from your mistakes, and you will get better. The main goals in your first year or three in BJJ is to (1) “survive” by trying to stay safe in positions and not make the silly mistakes that everyone beginner does, (2) learn the fundamental concepts of BJJ and how to insert those concept into your own personal “game”, and (3) have fun, get in shape, and hopefully make some great friends and acquaintances.BJJ may NOT be a perfect fit for everyone. At CMBJJ we hope that our wide variety of student personalities will allow any new student to find someone they may enjoy training with. If you ever train with someone that is too rough, may not be the most friendly, or makes you feel uncomfortable, you DO NOT have to train with them! If someone does something that is extremely out of the ordinary with a typical BJJ session, mention it to the coach running the class, and it will be addressed. We have no tolerance for bullying, intimidation, lying, cheating, or otherwise being a jack@$$. We want everyone to feel comfortable when they come to train, but we do not overly insert ourselves in every student’s life. Different personalities exist, but we expect everyone to be respectful and courteous to other persons while on the mats.Hope to see you come try a class soon! More...

LOVE this place as an alternative to regular cardio and weightlifting gym routines. I cancelled my membership with a gym in town to come here. I'm learning a martial art (adult muay thai) and getting a superior full body workout with every session. After four classes, I'm already seeing results, and its just plain FUN! More...
