Burbank Piano Lessons

I have been a student with James for over 2 years. I'm an adult newcomer to the piano. He's a wonderful teacher. He is enthusiastic, patient, and encouraging. Lessons can run the gamut: from working on sight reading skills, to harmonic analysis, to discussions of performance approaches. He also knows his stuff: he can pick out a wrong note when I'm sight reading something even over Skype. You can tell when someone is passionate about teaching, is personally invested in their student's success. You can tell when someone's phoning it in. James puts his heart into his teaching and it's been such a rewarding journey. I couldn't read music at all when I started. Now I can pick up things and sight read them. I can also look over the piece and explain to myself why a certain chord follows another chord- what's happening on a theory level. I'd encourage anyone to work with James if your a beginner or advanced student. I can't say enough of how great a teacher he is. More...
