I have been part of Anchorpoint's staff for nearly 8 years. I love how we make our clients our top priority. For example, it is extremely important that a staff member or volunteer answer our phones before going to voicemail during business hours - no one likes to talk to an automated system. My husband has also enjoyed working with and sharing his love of math and science with students in the tutoring program. My 4th and 2nd grader both love Anchorpoint's tutoring department. My 4th grader has been coming for 3 years and has progressed greatly in her academics and is much more confident in her abilities. She spoke highly of her experience last year that my son begged to attend this year. We had tried private tutoring in the past but it became to expensive, Anchorpoint's rates are more affordable. I have tutored here for over 10 years because of the wonderful staff, especially because of Sandy Niekum, tutoring manager. Tutors and therapists work together to help high risk students achieve success by supporting school curriculum in a one on one setting. Sandy provides a high degree of expertise, having been a special education teacher in the North Hills School District. I've witnessed many success stories with my own, as well as other students here. Anchorpoint Counseling Ministry is the new name for North Hills Youth Ministry Counseling Center. This is one of the very best places in the Greater Pittsburgh Area to seek any type of counseling. And if you want to have issues of faith incorporated into the counseling relationship the staff are all people of faith; however, they are very sensitive about not pushing faith or God onto clients who do not want this to be a part of their sessions.
