I'm happy to recommend A.W.A.Y. and its workout program. I've been working with Micah for the past month to get in shape for ski season (and generally build working out back into my life). He conducted an evaluation and we determined goals and expectations. Each week he sends me my workouts, and follows up via text to see how they're going. I can report excellent follow-through and great rapport. And I'm definitely in better shape overall already, even with only a month under my belt. Great instruction and clarifications when needed! Highly recommend!!! More...

SUCH GREAT TRAINING. Everything I've learned from AWAY athletics has been broken down into simple, easy to follow steps that make sure I'm using perfect technique. Micah doesn't care how heavy but instead how to correctly execute the movements and that's so important More...

How important is a healthy diet to someone’s health and wellbeing?
Our daily diet is the fuel that drives us forward in our daily activities; work, school, training, games, competitions; EVERYTHING. How we fuel our bodies will directly co-relate to our goals really show how committed we are. With that said, it doesn't need to be boring and bland "chicken and rice" all day everyday. The key is learning how to fuel for performance, but with foods you enjoy and love, while still enjoying that ice cream every now and then!
How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?
At A.W.A.Y Athletics we focus on TEACHING our clients and not just telling them what to eat or how to train. We want our clients to question workouts, assessments, and different approaches to diets. Questioning shows that clients are willing and ready to learn and change their bodies for a LIFETIME. Not just for the summer.
What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?
Finding what works for YOU and what you can do for a lifetime. Anyone can exercise once in a while or "eat clean" for a week or two, but discovering what you can do for years to come will be the secret to reaching your goals and then some.
What do you love most about your job?
I love when I get the text/calls from clients who are so excited because they were able to put on a pair of pants that they haven't been able to for years. The moment our clients have their "ah ha" moment, is when it all becomes worth it to us.
What inspired you to start your own business?
From working with athletes for the last 10+ years, I was seeing the decline in health and nutrition and the increase in injuries (more often than not due to muscle imbalances/poor health) and I wanted to make a change. We have known about health risks and the rise of obesity for YEARS, but nothing is changing. It's time we teach the foundational concepts needed for a healthy life at a young age all the way through adulthood.
Why should our clients choose you?
We would love to work with anyone and everyone ranging from average joes and soccer moms to elite athletes, but at the end of the day we want our clients to choose the A.W.A.Y 'ohana because they believe in us and our abilities. But even bigger than that, we want clients to believe in themselves enough to know that anything is possible and that they CAN reach their goals through learning about their bodies.
