What information do you need from a client before you can start work?

There are the practical and typical questions – timeline, budget, initial briefing, objectives – these all gain a greater insight initially. However there are always further questions from an initial brief – to be able to fully understand the job required and the best solution going forward.

What do you love most about your job?

I love that each project is completely different and unique – I get to learn about all sorts of industries through this work and create solutions that work for my clients going forward. It's a team effort – with client and designer working together to unite ideas and create practical forms of design and print.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have been in design and print for over 10 years – throughout those years I have been able to gain so much knowledge and insight into design and print and it's process – my experience has given me the skills to be able to do what I do today – to be a freelance designer. 2015 saw a shift in how I wanted to work outside of my comfort zone and therefore I took the leap to start my own business and become JR Creative. And here I am today... 3 years in and counting.
