We celebrated my father’s 89th birthday in style with afternoon tea in historic surroundings. The table was beautifully set with colourful china. We enjoyed choosing a range of teas and selecting our sandwiches.||The tea and sandwiches were delicious.||We all enjoyed our scones.My dad tucked into a fruit scone with jam and cream. I preferred my cheese scone. We all enjoyed the delicious cakes and even had some left over to take home.||The service was excellent and the waiters polite and friendly.||My father enjoyed his chocolate brownie attractively presented on a ‘birthday’ plate.||||The room was attractively decorated for Christmas. I have visited a couple times for the amazing Sunday roasts as well as the hearty breakfast!||||First time visiting during the evening and wow was it busy. We arrived around 7pm and you could see the whole place was buzzing! they had a band on in reception playing wonderful Christmas songs. They clearly had a very large christmas party on. Nontheless we were quickly greated by someone had the door who guided us through to the restaurant where we were again met with a smile from the gentlemen awaiting diners.||||The bar was very busy but we were able to get a sit outside with blankets offered under the heaters which was very nice. ||||The meal to follow was to die for. We opt for a large cut being the Ribeye, we requested medium rare (How else would you have it! didn't want to ruin a good piece of meat!)||It only came with confit garlic and house salad, which does push the price up but its what all the good steak houses do, so we added a triple cooked chips, ducks egg & spinach all delicious||||The meal was top class and could fault it, nor could i compare it to a meal I have had previously in leicester.||||The wine list is outrageous for a leicester based hotel/restaurant 160+ wines top level stuff with champagne to match. We opted for one of your UK exclusives and went for a very good Algodon Malbec (we were informed when purchasing the wine we had just missed a Wine tasting with paired steak dishes the other week which sounds incredible). I love my wine so I was in heaven reading this menu.||||Considering how busy the venue was we found the staff to be very attentive, with a wealth of knowledge in regards to food an wine. Next time I think I will just let them do it for me they basically did this time.||||||||Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our first dinner visit. We have heard mixed reviews, steak isn't all that & its very expensive - I could not disagree more the steak was delicious and you pay for what you get!||||Cant wait to be back again for an evening meal!||||I am sure it will be even better as we were informed later in the bar that was their busiest night of the year!||||congratulations guys More...

They put on a great party here. Food and entertainment were both top-notch. Service was good from all the staff especially considering how busy they were. The venue itself is obviously stunning and has a very classy feel which isn’t always the case at Christmas party venues in Leicester. I really enjoyed my suprise 30th Birthday party in one of the private dining rooms at Winstanley House with around 50 guests. ||||Breaking up the night by having the starters as canapés, a beautiful bar in the room next door; This bar was shared with other parts of the magical venue and really created the perfect atmosphere without the stuffiness of a sit down meal or worrying about a massive dance floor feeling stark. Dipping in and out was lovely for everyone.||||Such a beautiful place, wonderful warm staff, delicious food and a special venue. Had a fantastic break for my wife's birthday. Beautiful building in a character filled delux double room with a huge bathroom. |Had an amazing meal choosing 4 options from the lite bites section to share which gave a great variety and plenty to share. We then both had steak which was perfectly cooked to our tastes. Our waiter Josh was very attentive and helpful with our menu choices and service throughout. They also brought out a Happy Birthday dessert selection plate for my wife at the end which was a lovely surprise for her.|Would certainly recommend coming to this hidden gem in Leicester. More...

I came with my mum and her friend to have breakfast and it was absolutely amazing. It was a great price for the food overall. We had the big breakfast where you get everything for a normal fry up. I couldn't have been more happier with the service. Also we decided to sit outside because it was a nice day and it was beautiful looking over the grass and the lounge area was very comfortable. Very pleased with our decision to choose Winstanley House for a stop-over on our way South. Always a bit of a risk when you are not acquainted with a place so thanks to previous reviewers. Friendly check-in and a spacious and well appointed room and bathroom. Only slight disappointment for over bath shower - the water always seems to escape. Very comfortable bed with shutters contributing to a perfectly dark room. Dinner was the highlight, quite delicious. My son had his wedding at Winstanley House. Excellent venue in a beautiful setting.||The food and service were excellent and couldn't be faulted (even after 40 years in the hospitality industry). Staff were very competent, attentive and helpful throughout the day. ||The rooms were spacious, well equipped and comfortable.||My only adverse comment would be the breakfast which was lukewarm and consequently a bit greasy.||Overall highly recommended. What an amazing find! We enjoyed our stay here so much. Our bedroom was huge with a fantastic bathroom. Everything was clean and the little touches of luxury (coffee maker, bottled water etc) much appreciated. Breakfast was huge and probably one of THE nicest cooked breakfasts we have had in a hotel! Never been before but heard about the hotel and thought about giving it a try after a morning on the Great Central Railway.
