What do you love most about your job?
I like to explain in a clear way the sometimes confusing and overly complicated world of law to people who don't have a legal background. Especially entrepreneurs should have a clear view of what their legal position is and try to avoid as much as possible any conflicts.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After working for the judiciary in my home country (The Netherlands) for years, me and my partner moved to London for a change. I was already on the top-level in my area of work and got more and more frustrated by how things worked in the big governmental organization I was working for. I always wanted to start my own business at some point and living abroad was a dream come true. When moving to London, everything came together and I started to develop my own business.
I am convinced I can add something to the already crowded market of legal advice. Of course I have the expertise required to provide clients with professional advice, but I am also very dedicated to my clients. Clear and informal communication and being easily approachable are very important values to me. In my opinion, this requires a relationship with clients based on equality. Therefore, I try not to create too much distance between me and my client.
The advantage of the fact that I'm legally trained, but not a UK registered solicitor or barrister, is that my rates are lower than those of traditional law firms. Although some legal activities are the exclusive privilege of solicitors and/or barristers, such as representing clients in legal proceedings, many legal matters can be taken care of just as good by me. I graduated in law (LLM) and I have the qualifications and experience. Legal issues I can take care of include the drafting of various contracts and advising about the protection of intellectual property, such as creations and trademarks. Former clients, many of whom are still making use of my services, are all very content about me and my work.

I provide all my services online and remotely. I use e-mail and video calls as well as telephone to discuss matters and keep my clients up to date.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Since I'm working remotely anyway, I did not need to make changes due to Covid-19. E-mail, telephone and Zoom all work lovely.
