Q&As

Ask any of our care workers and their answers will be very similar! We love to help people. We take huge satisfaction in the little things - brightening a customer's day, making them laugh, seeing them find a new way to do something for themselves, watching a recovery unfold. No 2 days are ever the same. We love that with our help, support and encouragement, our customers grow in independence, confidence and contentment and tell us their quality of life is transformed. How many people can say that about their job?!

The Care Sante Group of which Valley Care is part, is run by directors who have long and successful careers in the homecare sector. We know that generally, people live better for longer in the comfort of their own homes with the right support. And importantly, we recognise the invaluable and critical role Care Workers play in our society. Our combined experiences and vision for homecare of the future inspired us to build a company that is, first and foremost, people-centric. People are at heart of everything we do. By treating and paying our staff well, investing in their training and development, and giving them a voice in the company's development, we ensure they are in turn motivated to deliver truly life changing care and support to our customers. Our aim is to help people live well and enjoy fulfilling lives in their own homes for longer and together we're making that happen.

We're a team of well-qualified professionals with a passion for delivering inspiring and life-enhancing homecare. Because we recognise and celebrate individuality, every package of care is tailored to an individual's needs, preferences, goals and lifestyles - you'll come first every step of the way. We work hard to make sure that our support has a positive impact on every aspect of our customers' lives - we go much further than just addressing physical needs.
We're regulated by the Care Quality Commission so you can rest assured that our working practices are of the highest standard.

The nature of the services we provide mean they are typically delivered face to face, however, we do offer 'virtual' check-ins and well-being telephone calls as part of our services.

Valley Care works to current government guidelines in respect of Covid-19. Care workers attending your home will wear appropriate PPE for the activities being undertaken.

Services

Whether you need help for an hour or two each week or fortnight, or multiple visits each day, Valley Care can help. Our team will work with you to determine what you'd like to achieve with our help, and design a care plan and visit schedule that reflects and supports your goals. Depending on your needs, your visits may be attended by one or two care workers. It's important to us that you remain in the driving seat, so we'll make sure your preferences and instructions are communicated to your assigned care worker(s) from the outset. In addition to providing practical support, you can expect your care workers to take the time to get to know you, take an interest in you, and have a chat. We'll keep in touch with you and review your care plans regularly to make sure you continue to be delighted with our services, and that the support we provide adapts with you over time.

Valley Care can support you or your loved one with personal care including toileting, continence care, washing, dressing and hair care. Our care workers are trained to the highest standards and will respect your privacy, protect your dignity and encourage independence at all times.

Valley Care's 24-hour care service is ideal for customers who require more intensive support, including throughout the night. Your regular care team will be trained to meet your unique physical and emotional needs so that you can be confident in their support. Typically, your care workers will work in shifts of up to 12 hours before handing over to a colleague. That means you will enjoy exceptional continuity of care from a team who will come to know you well and so can pick up on even the subtlest changes in your presentation and act quickly to get the help you need, e.g. from GPs, mental health teams, hospital specialists etc.

Valley Care provides care to support you or your loved one throughout the night. Our care workers will attend your home from 8pm to 8am and will remain awake throughout the night to provide instant support as soon as it is required. This may include assistance to prepare for and get into bed, repositioning regularly during the night to avoid pressure sores, administering with medication, support with toileting and continence needs, and providing reassurance and peace of mind.

Live-in care is an unsung hero in the world of care, enabling people to continue to live in their own homes rather than needing to reluctantly move into a residential care setting. A carefully vetted live-in care professional, matched to you, your needs, preferences and lifestyle, will live with you in the spare room of your home, on hand throughout the day to support you and provide companionship. In addition to supporting with personal care, medication, practical household tasks and meals, your live-in care worker will keep you company and help you enjoy your preferred social activities, including getting out and about. Live-in care is suitable for those who only require minimal and infrequent support during the night. Your live-in care worker will have a 2 hour break each day. This can be covered by our visiting care team, or your family/friends, depending on your preferences. Live-in care workers work on rotation, usually staying between 2 and 10 weeks before switching with their colleague.

Valley Care can support you to ensure your medication is taken safely and at the correct times to protect your health. Our care workers are trained to both administer and prompt-self administration of prescribed medication.

Valley Care can arrange to visit to prepare, or support people to prepare meals and drinks, including in line with specialist diets, to ensure their nutritional needs are met.

Valley Care can help you keep on top of your housework and laundry so you can keep your home as you like it. We can help with weekly or fortnightly cleaning whilst offering company and a friendly chat, and other light support to help you keep up with your routine.

Valley Care helps our customers to get out into their local communities and stay involved in much-loved hobbies and social activities. We'll assist you to get ready, accompany you to activities of your choice helping you navigate the travel, and can stay and help you participate if required. We also offer a sitting service (from an hour or two to full days) to ensure you're well cared for whilst family or friends take a break from their caring responsibilities; or to simply provide companionship to combat loneliness. Our friendly care workers will be delighted to spend time with you, chatting or even doing a puzzle or playing a board game.
