James began his training in 1972 and has gone on to become one of the most respected teachers available anywhere in the world. James is passionate about teaching this wonderful art and has produced many of the very best practitioners.

Small and very friendly Wing Chun Kung Fu Club in Chelmsford. Mixed age and ability group with individual members as well as family pairs all supporting each other to learn self defence in a safe fun environment. No egos, no macho hard cases, just a helpful group of members from age 13+ learning pragmatic Kung Fu. Marks teaching style and humour blends the traditional with the practical giving an evolved interpretation of Wing Chun for the 21st century. Mark really knows his stuff always explaining why the form is the way it is and how it has evolved over time and how it can be used in real life today. First class teaching from the ground up i.e. using proper body structure, positioning and relaxation. I came back to training after a long layoff and the teaching quality was way better than I had ever experienced before. As I personally found, be prepared to be challenged on your technical skills by Sifu Mark Solomons if you have studied under less qualified instructors - it feels like learning the art again, but you come out after each lesson with greater skill if you are willing to apply yourself.
