Q&As

Growing up I was very close to my grandmother and used to spend a significant amount of my time listening to her rich and unique life experiences. As she started to get frailer and she was diagnosed with dementia our roles were reversed and I started to look after her more and more. However, I continued to enjoy being around her and help her with every day life activities. Even during a time when she could no longer remember my name or thought I was her long dead husband, my grandfather, these exchanges were positive as I encouraged her to talk about these things that were dear to her and supported her recall her life. Seeing that smile on my grandmother's face when I took out an old photo album or asked her who William is ( I was named after my grandmother) made me happy. This was 21 years ago. From that time I have found personal satisfaction, a sense of achievement and purpose when I work with the elderly and vulnerable people in our society. Seeing them smile at me because they know I’m here to help, listen and learn from them, just like I did 21 years ago is a heart warming experience. No greater pleasure for me.

Having worked in the Care sector for more than 20 years and achieved a few University Degrees in Health and Social Care forming Total Healthcare was a natural progression in terms of my career progression and my vision for having an Organisation that is solely focused on working with the elderly to make sure that they continue to have a good quality of life in their own homes regardless of their situation.
