I am a friendly, patient and dedicated violin and viola teacher with over 20 years professional experience.
All ages and abilities are welcome. I am able to tailor lessons to suit individual students' needs, whether you are preparing for exams, auditions or recitals or just playing as a hobby.
I can prepare students for both ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall Exams and also teach music theory focussing on preparation for the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory exam.
I am very devoted to teaching, having over two decades of experience covering a wide range of ages and abilities, from young children to adults and from beginners to advanced players. My approach is one of flexibility, taking into account the aims and abilities of each individual and tailoring lessons to suit the student's needs, whether they are preparing for exams, performances or just playing as a hobby. I always strive to make lessons an enjoyable and inspiring experience.
If you are based within about 10 miles of my location I am happy to offer you lessons in the comfort of your own home. I also welcome any students who wish to travel to me for lessons.

Online Lessons
I can offer you the option of effective online classes no matter where you are based.
When the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic came into place in 2020 I moved all my teaching over to online lessons as in person lessons became unviable in most situations. Since then I have gained a great deal of experience teaching remote classes and I have found them to work very well and be viable even for young children if there is parental supervision.
I can accommodate you online via Zoom, Skype or FaceTime for lessons at your convenience if travel is not practical or you simply prefer remote lessons as a safeguard against any risk of Covid transmission.

A little about me
Tim Robinson was born in London and began learning the violin at the age of 3 via the Suzuki method. His undergraduate studies took place at Trinity Laban Conservatiore, studying violin with Nona Liddell MBE and viola with Richard Crabtree. In 2005 he completed his postgraduate studies at Trinity with the Israeli violinist Ofer Falk. Whilst at Trinity his quartet were awarded the John Barbirolli prize for String Quartet, and he has received masterclasses and coaching from the Brodsky and Wihan Quartets. As a chamber musician and soloist Tim has given recitals in venues such as Queen Elizabeth Hall, St. Martin In the Fields, and Burgh House, Hampstead. His string quartet can often be heard in recitals at various venues around London and the South East. Tim is also in demand as a freelance orchestral player, playing regularly with numerous orchestras in London and around the UK.
