We celebrated our wedding at The Pilgrim's Rest in November this year. Not only is the venue wonderful and one of a kind (all of our guests commented on how beautiful and unique the space was) but the staff at the Pilgrim's Rest help make your day brilliant. Amy, Amy Lou and Anita were really helpful, have loads of experience and had solutions for every situation. The philosophy of the venue is wonderful as well - you can tailor the event to you as much as you'd like, with your choice of caterers, celebrants, decorations, bands etc. No obligation to choose from a list of vendors, but Amy and Amy Lou will provide you with recommendations of vendors to make life easier if you'd like. We held our wedding at the Pilgrims Rest on 23rd November and it was a truly magical day. The venue is stunning and was absolutely perfect for our intimate day with family and our closest friends, all of whom commented on how beautiful and perfect the surroundings were. Originally, before we even knew about the Pilgrims, we were due to get married at a different venue but the property was sold to new owners and they cancelled our wedding with just 3 months to go . We were completely lost as to what to do next but then stumbled upon The Pilgrims and completely fell in love with it - we were so lucky it was available on our date too! In hindsight, this was by far the more superior setting for our special day so we're now actually grateful that the last venue cancelled on us!! One of the best things about the Pilgrims are Amy and Amy Lou, for sure. From the moment we got in touch (in a panic!!), they made us feel calm, really looked after and that genuinely nothing was too much trouble. We were made to feel so special and supported which considering the amount of weddings they must help to organise, made it all the more impressive to us. They both went out of their way to make whatever we wanted to happen on our special day possible and for that we will be forever grateful. We recently got married at The Pilgrim's Rest. We planned it in five months. From the moment we walked in on the open day we knew that it was for us. Amy and Amy-Lou were fantastic in helping us organise everything in the run up and we couldn't have asked for a more attentive duo setting up the day before and on the day itself. From liasing with our caterers and helping me get ready when I needed another pair of hands and lots of other things that they did backstage that I didn't see. The decor was great and we were able to play our evening music on a blue tooth speaker for the evening. If you like quaint buildings in beautiful surroundings then this is the place to be. Thanks so much to The Pilgrims Rest for hosting our wedding day in Oct 2019. From the moment we walked in the door on our first visit in Jan 2018, we knew it was the venue for us. It was the perfect size for the intimate wedding that we had planned and was so inviting with all the wooden beams, beautiful decor and lovely fireplaces. We didn't want to book any old venue, we wanted somewhere that had a story to tell and somewhere that would be the perfect background for a cosy autumnal wedding. The Pilgrims Rest was just that. All of our guests kept complimenting our choice of venue and loved the fact that we had chosen something a little bit different that had so much character. The Abbey next door also provides another fantastic backdrop for photographs.The venue can be dressed up as much as you like. They provide just the right amount of decorations so that you really don't need to buy anything if you don't want to which is a massive plus for keeping costs down. We brought decorations but tried to stick to pieces that really added to the feel of the venue so lots of candles and pumpkins worked a treat!Last but by certainly no means least, Amy & Amy Lou were absolutely brilliant from start to finish. They were so supportive during the planning process and were always on hand to answer any questions we had etc. Amy helped with decorating the venue the day before (thank you!) and Amy, Amy Lou & Anita really looked after everyone on the day to ensure it all ran so smoothly. Our wedding took place at The Pilgrim's Rest recently and it really was a magical day. We actually booked the venue almost two years earlier and have made several visits to the venue to discuss options, plan things etc. On every occasion we were met with friendliness professionalism and enthusiasm. What do we recommend about The Pilgrims Rest? EVERYTHING! The building itself is simply beautiful and the provided decorations help to reduce costs on venue stylists etc and they are always complementary to the season. The DIY element helps you to have the wedding you want, not what you’re told you have to have. Choosing your own suppliers adds to the fun and unique personalisation too. The no corkage charge is also obviously a huge help! We would also recommend going over to France and the Calais Wine Superstore - we got all our wedding wine for 100 guests at under £200 and they tasted great too. The two dressing rooms are beautiful and provide great space for getting ready with your nearest and dearest (and also are amazing backdrops for photos)! The dining room feels like something out of Hogwarts (when my fiancé said that to me I was sold from our first visit). I personally feel the venue lends itself to an autumnal cosy or Christmassy vibe due to the fires, but I’m also sure it’s just as suited to any time of year wedding. Lastly, the Amy’s. We love them. Everyone loved them. They truly went above and beyond to ensure everything went to plan. Nothing was too much trouble. We are beyond happy to have had our wedding at The Pilgrims Rest, it helped us to have a wedding day beyond our expectations and like no other we’ve ever been to. We actually wished we were guests at our own wedding. Possibly the best review I can give is... I’ve been dreaming (and secretly planning) our wedding day for the past 13 years. When we got engaged and actual allowed planning went into full swing, we saw the venue online and had to have a look. After our first visit, we looked no further. We knew it would be perfect. It was. I celebrated my birthday in this charming venue. It was amazing!The venue is cosy and the decor is full of rustic charm. The flexibility of DIY vendors was very appealing. I had a memorable day from start to finish, just as I imagined. Both Amy's bent over backwards to ensure everything went well. We got married here in August and I can't recommend the venue and the girls enough. Amy and Amy-Lou were such a pleasure to work with and made the planning process so easy. We held our wedding at Pilgrims Rest on May 18th 2019. The wedding day was perfect and was made even more special thanks to the venue. Pilgrims Rest is a wonderful wedding venue. It has history, character and charm. The DIY aspect really makes sure that the day is exactly as you imagine. The ability to supply your own alcohol without corkage is a huge benefit. Both Amy's were fantastic. From our first meetings we had absolute confidence that we were in safe hands. They responded to all questions promptly and met all of our ideas with enthusiasm and made planning a wedding easy. On the day they went above and beyond and made sure that everything ran like clockwork. The Pilgrims Rest has a great selection of approved suppliers, we especially recommend the Boxed Girls and DJ Dean! The Pilgrims Rest is a brilliant venue and very worthy of a 5 star rating! My mates got married here and it is a awesome little place. The decor is beautiful. It is perfect for small wedding and there're a lot of hotel and places to stay near by. What a fantastic day we had at the Pilgrim's Rest. It could not have been a more wonderful venue for our daughter's wedding. Such a gorgeous old building, full of atmosphere, we hardly needed to decorate. The staff could not have been nicer, they were so helpful when we were planning the day with lots of great suggestions, but also relaxed about letting us do the things that we wanted unlike other venues we looked at. We got married at The Pilgrims Rest in June 2018. From our first meeting Amy (and her sidekick 'little Amy') were absolutely brilliant. We wanted a DIY low-key, relaxed day in a beautiful venue and we got everything we could have hoped for and more. They both helped us with so many parts, from helping us find a bartender and staff who helped serving the food (Tres and Pauline they went above and beyond to keep our guests happy), to keeping calm and unwravelling a huge knot of fairy lights the day before when we had ran out of energy. I would recommend them without a doubt, and all of our guest had a brilliant day.
