My eldest daughter attended a 2 day workshop last May and this week has returned with her sister. Neither had any experience with sewing machines and they have come home being able to set up and use our machine at home. they have made wonderful tops with Jay and have really enjoyed learning their new skills and are keen to make more things at home. thank you Jay More...

Childrens Sewing Courses
The Fashion Loop delivers children's fashion sewing courses during the school holiday.
They are 2-day workshops starting 10am to 4pm
During the 2-days, students learn how to use a sewing machine, overlocker, and semi-industrial iron along with lots of sewing techniques.
The children also create a simple garment based on their skill level. We have students attend these workshops regularly therefore are able to create more complex garments.

Our introductory course for the sewing machine and overlocker are essential especially if you have little or no experience of making clothes.
You can expect this course to be an eye opener and you will gain valuable technical & practical information that will help you a great deal if you choose to join our other courses and/or in your own projects.

Design & Produce Garment Patterns
Our courses offer step by step instructions in pattern cutting and are suitable for beginners just starting out as well as those who may already have experience of pattern cutting at a more advanced level. Courses are designed to teach you all the technical skills and knowledge that you require to be able to design and create your very own garment patterns using the flat pattern cutting method.
During the course, you will work your way through a range of exercises that are designed and delivered in a user-friendly format with each exercise building on the previous or your existing knowledge. As your skill levels increase and grow so will your confidence.
Courses are taught by experienced tutors and fashion industry experts who will cater and adapt to your personal learning style, provide clear and easy to follow instructions alongside demonstrations taking you through the experiential learning cycle. Classes are relaxed, welcoming and small in size creating and enjoyable environment with plenty of support, guidance and help available.
No prior pattern cutting knowledge is required and as there is no sewing involved in the pattern cutting courses, except when creating mock-ups, no previous sewing experience is needed and you do not need to know how to use a sewing machine.

The pattern cutting courses will use size 12 blocks as a basis for the exercises. If students have their own blocks, these may be used. If you are interested in making custom fit blocks, please see our block making courses.
