I would recommend the Drum Academy. I started drumming at age 46 thinking that I had left it too late but have thoroughly enjoyed over 9 years of lessons covering a whole range of drumming styles. What do you love most about your job?
Meeting people and doing my best to help them achieve great things. I never tire of this and playing drums is so good for general well being and overall health.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Necessity originally. The teaching school was originally situated above a drum store in Leicester in the 1980's. The shop closed in 1992 and left us with the lease on a shop we didn't really need. The race was on to find somewhere in the city centre that would serve well as a dedicated drum academy...not easy at the time. A bit of good fortune and serendipity later saw us taking up residence in the new International Arts Centre in Garden Street, an excellent location for our school and we've been very happy there ever since.
