What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Practice and adaptability! There's so much that goes into taking a great image that there isn't really a secret as such. Photography is such a varied craft with so many disciplines. Take events for example, they're fast moving and you have to be ready to get the shot as there's no second chance. Where as product or architectural photography gives you time to plan and headshots require you to be able to put the client at ease to get them looking their best.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I like to understand what a client wants from the images, where and how they're going to be used. I also like to look at existing images they might have to find out what they like or dislike about them and how we can create something new that fits the image they have in their mind or their existing brand. Also, a very important question is budget. Not because we want to try and squeeze every penny out of you, but so we know what level of production and post production we'll be going for.
What do you love most about your job?
The variety. One week I could be taking photos at a corporate event then the next I could be on an Army training ground surrounded by pyrotechnics, tanks and helicopters. I also love the different people I meet and travelling around the country.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Freedom and the sense of responsibility. I have the freedom to choose how much I want to put into my business and it's a great feeling to know your hard work and effort is paying off.

I listen to my clients, work hard and put all of my ability into every job I do and I won't finish until I'm happy with what I've created. Because it's my business and I want clients to say wow that's awesome and come back. I'm really proud to say that I have a lot of repeat business, so I must be getting it right!
