The Clarendon Hotel

A group of my friends and I had our Christmas Lunch at this Hotel recently and I cannot fault the meal or the service we got at all. Of course, with it being the holiday season, the restaurants were very busy - however, this did not reflect in the service we got, nor did it affect the meal we were served. I think (as we all did) that this was the best Christmas dinner we have had in a long time. The food was hot and absolutely delicious. Stayed here overnight as we attended Christmas Party night with friends. The party night was very good and we all enjoyed. The hotel is in a great location. A little tired in places but the staff more than made up for this with their friendliness. A big thank you to Ken the General Manager, who went beyond to find my purse I had left behind after checkout. I would definitely recommend a slstay at the Clarendon. A warm welcome and speedy check in greeted us on arrival and we were in the room in 5 minutes. ||The hotel is old school, relaxed, comfortable and warm. The bedroom had a lovely view across the common, we will likely stay again and I think I'll go for the next room up from the basic purely as it was very compact for me but other than that it was a lovely well furnished bedroom. Bathroom very basic but clean. ||The big big plus was the hotel served drinks after their bar had closed, which is increasingly rare in even higher priced and graded hotels - and so frustrating when you get back late and just want a drink. The night reception staff told us what they could do then showed us to a lounge area, another pleasant surprise to having to sit on your bed! ||Breakfast buffet was ok, a reasonable array of choices. My suggestion would be to supply bigger juice glasses, if there hadn't of been other guests I'd have taken the jug back to my table to save the trips up and down!||Lastly, they accommodated our request for a later check out with pleasure.||We will be back next time we're in Blackheath. Great service from when we arrived, got a room straight away. I stayed in a crown room and it was a lovely set out, very spacious. Had a big double bed, wardrobe, desk and a small round table with 2 chairs. Had loads of floor space (if you want an air bed on floor). The bathroom looked amazing, included a rain fall shower, looked exactly like the crown room picture (all grey). The breakfast had a wide variety of choice compared to other hotels Ive stayed in however it does finish super early (for me anyway). The only negative thing i have to say is that the check out time is a bit early but i guess this doesnt matter if your leaving that day, however i had to be out by 11 and my next hotels check in wasnt until 3pm. Overall a great stay, great service, great breakfast. I didnt have dinner here as the menu just wasnt for me, nothing i liked on there but there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and pubs near by only a 5 minute walk.Thank you for my amazing stay! Staff on reception desk very helpful to accommodate you to make sure your stay is a success. I would highly recommend the Clarendon Hotel because of its close proximity to the centre of London and the underground which is only a five minute walk away and approximately thirty minutes into central London.

Lovely hotel, admittedly not super modern but a lovely old building with proper central heating lol. Room was a little dated but very comfortable, great bed, all you need amenities , lovely shower. Sadly some hairs on toilet that weren't mine and build up of dust on lamps in bedroom, so cleaners could be more thorough. Felt homely though. Great food in the bar and breakfast superb. Stayed here recently for a night with work. It’s nice hotel, room was comfortable, reception and bar staff were good, plenty of selection on breakfast buffet, didn’t have evening meal so can’t comment on that. Only trouble was with parking there, car parks fill up quickly and there is very limited parking in surrounding area. Other than that, I would recommend staying there if you’re visiting that area. I always book the Clarendon when working in London. Easy parking either in the hotel’s 2 car parks or in the local area ( free after 6:00) Good food, good breakfast, good staff. The local area Blackheath is a bit posh, several bars and a decent chinese takeaway the Sun Bo. There is a large open Heath opposite the hotel with a beautiful church in the corner. We booked somewhere close to 02 for a concert. Lovely area nice pubs , shops and restaurants nearby. Easy to get in and out of central London by the blackheath train station. Taxi to 02 cost under a£10 and very easy. Beds very comfy, nice and clean throughout. Rooms little dated but cant complain about decor. Staff in hotel bar friendly and welcoming.
