In today’s world parents need extra help reinforcing respect, courtesy and self-discipline. These are part of everyday lessons at our school. Our Martial Arts classes teach much more than kicking and punching. We teach life skills. Benefits include:- Higher Self Esteem, Improved concentration, confidence, Stranger Awareness and improved school results. We hold Junior classes at The Verwood Hub.

To say that my wife and I are satisfied with our experience at Black Belt Academy Fairfax would be a gross understatement. Our daughter was preparing to start kindergarten this year and join her older brother in elementary school with no preschool experience except for homeschooling. And while my 8 years of working as a teacher combined with my wife’s extensive experience and background in early childhood development & psychology provided our girl with the knowledge needed to take on the coming workload, the one thing a homeschool program can not provide is a diverse social environment. I came to BBA in late July - early August and the first person I met with and spoke to was Mr. P. I explained our situation and that my reason for being there is to get our daughter enrolled for just a month or so to give her some experience following instruction from adults other than her parents while in a group setting in preparation for kindergarten so that by the time she started class she would be more prepared to keep focus in a potentially distracting environment full of other kids trying to have fun and learn at the same time. I was very specific with Mr. P in that I needed a place that would hold my daughter accountable for her words, actions & behavior with instructors & teachers who’s primary concern is the educational well being of their students. My wife and I were very impressed and decided that this would be a great month long experience for our daughter to help prepare her for kindergarten. We were so impressed that we even decided to enroll our 3rd grader-to-be son for the month along with her. We were in the process of moving from Fairfax to Woodbridge and felt like there was no way we would be able to continue coming to the program once they started school in Prince William County - but what we witnessed during that month changed our minds. Black Belt Academy Fairfax is a wonderful & unique place with an amazing staff that truly has a passion for helping children become the best versions of themselves that they can become while maintaining respectful & appropriate student-teacher boundaries - as students are always expected to use courtesy & manners like saying “Sir” and “Ma’am” when addressing staff. It’s been almost 8 months now and BOTH our kids continue to train hard with huge smiles on their faces under Master Yasinii and his amazing staff of instructors, junior instructors and staff. I could go on for a while about how happy we are with BBA, but I’ll leave it at this - we HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking for before and/or after-school care for their kids or those of friends & loved ones. They are so good with kids! I love taking the family class together. They create a very cooperative environment to learn TKD as a class. Karate at TBBA is more than just an 'out of school' activity. It ticks all the boxes for us as our daughter is not only regularly exercising whilst learning self defence, she is learning to be confident in a conflict situation, respect, courtesy & perseverance to mention just a few - all without realising it and having fun!

Our son Charlie is four and has been attending Little Dragons for a few months now. Whilst he can find it hard it is great to see his focus and confidence improving. Sensei Simon is great with the youngsters, making it fun and exciting whilst also encouraging the concentration, discipline and respect required. The social lessons such as "stranger danger" are also a very sensible and well taught inclusion, and the physical focus is on fitness and basic self-defence. BBA is an excellent martial arts studio with top-notch instruction for all ages. The programs for children are comprehensive, from child care and summer camps to classes, all staffed by people who are friendly and caring. One thing that I have always noticed is the high level of encouragement that the children receive in the martial arts classes, as the approach makes the children in my family want to come to BBA. One other thing that I like about BBA is the community that is fostered among the staff, participants, and families -- everyone says hello, and when I have encountered BBA staff outside of the school setting, they are just as warm and friendly as when they are at work.
