I am a Derbyshire photographer, offering wedding, event, portrait and product services. I have always loved Photography and studied Film Production at University, but I really fell in love with wedding photography at a beautiful barn wedding in Suffolk, my partner had been asked to shoot the wedding as he was friends with the groom from his work as a motorsport photographer.

Tess made us both feel so relaxed during the couples photoshoot. We were a little worried it may be out of our comfort zone but everything felt so natural. Tess met us at one of our favourite spots which is so very special to us. We had a lovely relaxed walk around the park and she happily took photos in spots that we requested. The photos were ready for us to view quicker than we ever imagined. It was such a lovely day and finished off by selecting our favourite shots. We struggled to decide as they were all amazing photos! Tess gave us such a memorable experience and so glad we have the memories ready to have printed. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
When shooting a wedding, it is important to me to observe my surroundings and listen for any moments that could create a lovely picture. I feel natural smiles make the best pictures, as they link people with the best memories of their day.
Shooting portraitures is a great creative outlet for me, I love finding interesting places to shoot. It is a fun way to meet people, and help them promote their own businesses, or just to give him a creative picture of themselves or their family.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
In addition to asking which specific family members they would like photos with, I usually ask my wedding photography clients if they have any special requests for images they had in mind, in a specific location. It is their day and if they have any ideas or of the feeling they want from the final product, I like to make that happen for them. I strive to make the atmosphere of a wedding palpable through my images.
Oh and to be prepared for the rain, we are in the UK after all, but having umbrellas at the ready can add an extra element to your special day.
What do you love most about your job?
I love that I am able to be a part of the happiest day in two peoples' lives...for my job!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always been a creative person and have tried to find time for projects along side working as a Special Education Needs Learning Support Worker, a job in which has strengthened my communication skills with people, and gave me the capacity to tailor to others needs. I have recently changed the way I work, to spend the majority of my time on photography.
In truth, I started my own business to have more freedom and be creative.
Why should our clients choose you?
I care a lot about getting it right for my clients, and I appreciate the trust a couple puts in me to document their wedding day.
I just love it when I'm there for a funny or moving moment that may have otherwise been missed, and when it's captured, it feels like magic and there's always the hope that the bride and groom will love it as much as I do.
It is important to me that the couples I work with feel comfortable and assured that they nor their guests will be told to pose or be manoeuvred into awkward positions, so they can relax into the day.
If you want some shots of your bridesmaids, best men, family or your work mates that's what will happen and I will look for the smiles, not arrange them.

My style is candid, so I would float around, making sure I get all the smiles and great moments of the day. I can offer a few preview images the day of or day after too, so you can share them with your friends and family.
